So I just rooted my phone and found out about these ROM things... lol. Anyone have any suggestions as to which one I should download? I would prefer something with sense 3.0

Is there a way to see what they look like before i download?

Also, when i download a ROM do i have to delete the old one before i try out a new one?

Thanks for replying, how do i back it up and do a full wipe? Is there a guide on here somewhere? sorry, i'm kinda a noob.

check my ROM/root thread on this forum, there are 3 Sense3.0 roms to choose from as of now.
to make a backup, reboot into recovery and click backup/restore and then backup.
after you do that, follow the Flashing ROMs instructions on my guide.

If you want Sense 3.0 Virtuous Unity is the only way to go - IMO. As always, you should always backup your current ROM and do a full wipe beforehand.

What do you think of this rom for daily use? I just installed it and it seems pretty flawless so far, but I want to make sure this is something pretty much bug free before I make it my main rom.

If I remember right MMS didn't work on it ... is this still true?

From what I know that is true. I don't use or need it so it's not on my radar. I think there was some workaround, but again not something I pay much attention to. This is now my ROM for daily use. I've had no issues at all - be sure to install the update (1.31.3?). I don't think GSM is currently working, but since I'm only in the US that is no issue for me.

Unless something really outstanding comes along I suspect I will be sticking with this one for a long time. (actually, I consider Virtuous Unity to be really outstanding so it would have to be off the charts)

Take the plunge. It's stable and beautiful. Oh, and very smooth although I have not really taken advantage of the OC kernel to any extent. Given the history of the ROM it will only get better from here but here is pretty darn good as far as I'm concerned. Just pay attention over on XDA for details of any updates ahead of the next release in a week.

I ended up installing it and giving it a full run. Pretty good rom! I hope some of the sense 3.0 updates like to the camera app and gallery end up making it into and official update for us.

I did however notice and issue. My batter life with this rom was pretty terrible compared to stock. I used up about 40% in just 4 hours of basically light use where as the stock gingerbread rom gives me at least 6-8hours under similar use. I wonder if the extra processing of the 3d UI is causing the extra battery drain or of something else is going on.

I suspect Sense is a bit of extra drain but it's not so much for me. Mine easily lasts more than a day. Not sure I'd get 2 out of it but I haven't really tested the battery yet to see just how long it lasts but will do that soon. You might want to check the OC settings in the Virtuous Overclock app just to be sure.

thats strange, i have that exact ROM and it lasts 14 hours of heavy use, like pandora, maps, angry birds, drag racing, and constant texting. and i can get 30-34 hours without playing music or games.

I'm with vannalov3, just rooted but am too much of a noob to figure out what else to do with it. I changed my theme, icons, lock screen, and added a few widgets and a screen shot app, but now what? Don't get me wrong, I could change this stuff for days on end, but what else can I do?

Using CM7 nightlies with Tiamat 1.1.0. Why? Cause I read about it on XDA.

Try adfree from the market place, along with Titanium backup, and autokiller.
Also the fact that you are using CM7 and not the stock rom is a huge benefit of rooting your phone.

Damn, 14 hours of heavy use is good for any Android phone, even an Eris... I've never had that good of a battery.

These phones blow the eris away in terms of performance and battery life. Yes, Im a former eris owner!

Anyway 14hours is not bad but I'm normally seeing 18 hours of heavy use on the stock rom. So sense 3.0 seems to be a bit of a drain. But this is very subjective as heavy use can be defined as anything. I'll try reinstalling the rom again and giving it a second chance.
