Smart Alarm Clock

The app Smart Alarm Clock by Alexander Kosenkov is supposed to monitor your movements and choose a time when you're in light sleep to set off your alarm. It used to say that it didn't work with the Hero or Eris because they wouldn't allow motion tracking while sleeping, but now it just says no Hero or Nexus One. Does this mean it's still broken for the Eris as well?

I tested it out last night and it didn't work right, but I'm wondering if there's a setting or something I missed. Anyone else have some experience with this app?

In case anyone has issues finding it:

Haha well I'm not here trying to sell the app, I'd just like to get mine to work properly.
That's great that you're a light sleeper, but I sleep like a bear in January so I'd like to give it a try if it can help me wake up. :p

It doesn't just wake you any time that you're moving, it's supposed to monitor sleep patterns to wake you when you're at the lightest point in your sleep cycle, near the time you set the alarm to go off. This type of thing has been around for a while and there are other devices that work the same way (they're just a lot more expensive than an app).

I've been using gentle alarm for a few weeks now, and love it... I wake up a lot quciker and never that horrible (holy cr@p what is that ) arlarm that makes you miserabe

Lets say you need to wake up by 7:00 set it for 7:00 and at 6:30 it will go off so quietly that you can barely hear it and slowly get louder... The idea is that youre body goes in and out of deep and light sleep cyles every 30minutes so if it takes the whole 30minutes of the pre alarm or just 3 minutes you wake up with out the last minute scream radio.

I also notice that I am now remembering my dreams , where as before I wouldn't.

Definetly worth a try

Actually it sucks being a light sleeper because I never feel fully rested.

I'm a developer of this application =)
Please ask any questions or give a feedback.

@DDustiNN - it's nothing to do with light sleeping. Alarm goes off only during the last 30 minutes before deadline and the once again on the deadline itself.

@ChiTownJim - yep, just like Gentle Alarm, but better =) because it rings not exactly 30 minutes before (which is a bumb thing to do), but in 30..0 minutes before deadline, when it's better for you.

P.S. Just created a new web-site, www.smart-alarm-clock.com for the app.

Can you wake to playlists ?

Can you wake to playlists?

Not yet; I'm focused on main functionality right now.
But I think there should be a dedicated application for that... if not - this will be my next app =) It should be useable even from Native Alarm clock I think...

That's the power of Android - all applications can live and operate together.

Thanks for registering here just to help us out!

I just noticed the tip on your blog, to set the phone to stay awake while charging. I will try this tonight to see if the tracking will work then. But, could it possibly be harmful to routinely leave the screen on for 8+ hours at a time?

I hate to sound totally stupid, but I will admit to ignorant on this point. You have put this code here and I should then be able to scan it in order to have it go to my phone ---- BUT HOW DO I SCAN IT? What scanning app do I need to scan it into my phone? I have asked this 3 times and never got an answer, so smeone please help me out.
1. What app do I use to scan the code?
2. What do I set it at to do the scan?
3. Then what?

Understand that I am basically a noob at this, so please explain it like you were talking to a totally new guy (me).

Thanks

1) The app is called 'Barcode Scanner', search for it in the market.
Download and run the app.

2)Then you hold your phone camera up to your computer screen so that that code is shown in the box on the phone screen. Wait for the program to beep.

3) Press the "Open Browser" button after the app scans the code. This will take you to the market listing, or whatever other link is contained in the Q-R code, in this case it's the market page for the Smart Alarm Clock app.

Thanks for your message! Yes, that's possible - I have all the change records.
But I will try to fix it for real.

I'm sorry that this took so long time - for this weekend I've switched to Applications Protector - my new application that improves security of Android platform. So, now I'm going to release minor update for Protector and switch back to Smart Alarm Clock.

I just couldn't stop developing Protector once the idea came to my mind =)

Actually, I like them too =) our apps have similar concepts
I'm also glad that they adopted my idea of showing nice picture in the morning.

But, as developers say themselves, their app is working on probabilistic basis - either it will find you in a proper phase, either not (just waking up 30 minutes earlier). At the same time, mine app tries really hard to find the exact time.

Unfortunately, my app has significant bugs now. So I'd hornestly recommend everybody to download Smart Alarm Clock (to get an update notification), but to use Gentle Alarm for now :)

Once I'll release an update (after lots of testing & debugging), please give it a try ;-)
