Help Unlocking a Motorola Atrix for Rogers

Hi DualGlocks and welcome to AndroidForums :)

I got the Bell Atrix running on Rogers and I used cellunlock.net and it worked perfectly.

You would need the Rogers APN for it to work.
This is from my phone:
Name: Rogers Network
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <yours>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
Authentication type: <not set>
APN Type: <not set>

You will get an issue with the caller display from landlines as noted below:

I've been playing with my new Atrix and just unlocked it yesterday. My first few phone calls inbound showed "pay phone" instead of the actual caller number which was odd as I had no call display issues with the HTC Desire on Rogers. A quick google search and I found that the Atrix gets confused with the NAME and number call display that Rogers uses and does not properly show the caller's number. The solution is simple - call a CSR at Rogers and have them "exclude" NAME display from the call display feature and all will fine.

Motorola is aware of the issue and may fix it for the next firmware update. It wasn't something they felt needed to be dealt with prior as the two carriers AT&T and Bell do not use name and number call display, so there were no issues. Motorola figures the Atrix will be compatible with name and number in the future.

You will have a time stamp issue in your SMS or something and you should download an app call 'SMS Time Fix'

And you're good to go in using your Atrix on Rogers :)

So once i do the steps for that unlock, what do i have to do from Rogers? APN? What does that mean?

Access Point Network. It allows the communication between your phone and your network.
Press the menu button -> go into setting -> select wireless & networks -> select Mobile Networks ->select Access Point Network ->enter the fields (in post above).

No, i should be going to buy my atrix today or tomorrow.

Im trying to get everything inline before i do. SO far i got most of it, as of this:

Get phone
Buy a think of unlock cell
finish that
get my APN set and where good to go, right?

That's always smart to be prepared. Yes, that's all you need to get your Atrix working :)

There's going to be a few bugs so you'll also want to do this:

ok, got the phone, bought the unlock, just waiting for them info on it, should be here within 24 hours.

My problem right now is this:

i bought a used Motorola Atrix, my friend used it once and wanted an iphone, so i traded him. The phone was on Bell, and im on Rogers, so im in the process of getting it unlocked with unlockcell.net.

When i turn on the phone i get the message of:

SIM card is removed or changed. Log in to MOTOBLUR account to unlock. I created an account on here: https://portal-blur.svcmot.com/blur-web-portal/?l=en_CA

I even used a Gmail account like some people say is the problem, but it still wont log in, i connected my wifi and still nothing. So, how do i get this phone to brandnew or register right on this MotoBlur.

Thanks!

Did your friend 1)register with a motoblur account and 2)did he do a factory reset before he gave the phone to you?

From what you wrote, it seems that that is not the case and you are 'locked out' from the Atrix.

In the motoblur login home screen that you're greeted when you sign on. Can you go into menu and pick something a long the line of 'exit motoblur login'?

Ok, so i unlocked my phone and then hard rest set it, and everything is working great! The only thing im having a problem with is internet, it wont let me connect, any idea's?

Did you put in the APN I posted earlier? :) You can't access Rogers' network without that on your phone. Double check that you have entered it correctly if you did put it in and it's not working.
