Help Phone won't charge for more than a few minutes

When my phone is plugged into the charger, it only charges for the first few minutes. After, it just quits charging. My phone is only at between 1-5% and I can't get it up further than that. Can this be a battery problem? Or is it the phone itself?

How long have you had the phone? Is the charger and USB cord stock? Have you ever used a charger that was for some other device? Does this happen when it's plugged into the wall and your PC?

I've had the phone for about 3 months. I've tried charging my phone multiple ways: with stock cord and charger, with other non-stock chargers and via computer, via wall outlet. The phone behaves the same no matter what -- it will charge for 3 or 4 minutes then stop charging.

The manufactures warranty is for a year. I can't remember what VM's warranty coverage is. You can try another battery, which it almost sounds like is the problem. Or just take it back and see what the store warranty is.
Charging the phone with a charger that is not designed for the phone can also lead to this and more severe conditions. So be careful what you plug into your phone

Mine did this--it is some sort of bug or else something that happened to the receptacle on the phone that so ehow resolved itself. It charges fine now, but I did buy two new batteries and an external charger for them.

Thanks all. My phone has been charging normally for 2 days now. Must have been software related because the phone just stopped charging when the screen turned off. However, this doesn't happen anymore.

All the CM7 ROM's wake the phone up when put it on the charger. You can turn the screen off but not the phone...... So it was probably a software problem.
