Help Phone heats up & Shuts down while playing Graphic games!

do u really need a 600 dollar handheld gaming device? try the psp vita

that being said, playing games on s2 is both killing the battery life and gpu and cpu performance, i woudlnt' do it

I was honestly asking if this is happening only to me or to others with the S2 as well? I dont think I asked if I should be playing them on the S2 or not.

i think people buy this phone to enjoy features like graphics in games on this great screen among other things.. and i, like many others, have replaced my ipod with this phone..

i game a bit, but not a lot.. and my phone has never restarted, just some times got a bit hot on earlier firmware.. which firmware version are u running?

Using the latest that is there for my region. Its Android version 2.3.3

and which firmware is that? there are early 2.3.3 firmwares that caused heating very easily, even when using 3G for about 30min, i felt my phone get quite hot.. that was version KE7
to find out ur phone firmware, dial *#1234# on ur dialer, and see wat it says.. the last 3 digits are wat u need (KE7, KF2 etc) if its an old firmware, ur better off flashing a new firmware

Like i said, you really need to flash 2.3.4 or root and get setcpu. Over heat is caused by the android version installed in your phone that allow the dualcore to work to much. 2.3.4 resolve this by allowing it not going at 1.2ghz. You can root too to set it lower with setcpu. This is a little advice i give you, for me the problem is resolved and i can now play games for hours online!

It's like saying "I won't take photos on my SGS2 because it's $600 and if I wanted a $600 camera I'd go buy one." ...what? It's $600 because it can play games/music/videos, take photos, be a phone and much more all in one.

I had my SGS2 on 2.3.3 for a week and playing PSX roms on FPse got pretty hot. Playing it on my new Revolution rom has immediately fixed it. Sits at around 45-50 max when gaming.

Edit: Just realised I revived an old thread :p
