how to transfer a folder of pics

Hi everyone....just made the switch from the Evo 4g and I'm finding all these litte PIA issues but hope they get things straightened out.

I'm trying to transfer 10 folders of pics (10 pics each) onto the phone. I'm using the Motorola Media link to do so but it just places the contents of all the folders into a single spot under "camera" on the phone. I would find it hard to believe that such an upgraded phone wouldn't let you transfer entire folders. I'm hoping this is user error...lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jon

I haven't even tried using the media link yet.

Where are the folders/files originating from? PC? SD card? Please be a little more specific.

The files are coming from my PC running Vista. I've tried to load them through Media Link and just dragging/dropping through a file manager...the result is still the same. The only thing I haven't tried is making each folder on the phone and then trying to drag and drop into those folders. I'll try that and see what happens.

Okay. I've never actually used media link, so I can't tell you exactly how that works and what pitfalls there would be with that method. This is what I'd recommend (because it's what I did for folders I wanted on my phone and I see all the folders no problem).

1) Connected phone to PC via USB.
2) Make sure phone is connected as USB drive
3) Copied folders on PC and Pasted folders onto either SD card or SD Card-ext (if you have a microSD in the phone).

That seemed to be the surefire way of having the folders on the phone.

Well, this is turning out to be a very large PIA. Also found out there is no way to NOT display the "all photos" album unlike the Evo where that is a selectable option. So far, nothing I try seems to work although when I do copy via the usb drive, all the folders do appear under "albums" when looking at the files of the phone on the PC, but again, the folders do not appear on the phone when you go to the Gallery.

Get the app, Quick Pic.

EarlyMon and others had mentioned it in another thread, so I downloaded to try it out. It's fantastic because you can choose which folders to show and which ones not to show.

The stock Gallery that Motorola has on there is not very good at all because you can't isolate the folders to show first and can only arrange by the date that the pictures were saved. So strange because I've never done that for any picutres I have. With QuickPic, I don't have a need to use the stock gallery ever again...for any of my devices.

Have you tried pushing your pics to picasa via a PC and then they will appear on your phone VIA your google account. That is a sure fired way of never loosing your photo's if something happened to your phone and it keeps the storage on the phone more clear for other things.

Also you can use several other aftermarket photo apps that connect to Android and manage them that way.

Thanks Dr Ex! I had QP on my previous Photon and for the life of me couldn't remember what the name of the app was to put it on the 2nd Photon. The stock gallery app is the pits and I don't like not having my photos grouped in album format as they've always been on every "smart"phone I've ever owned.

Motos way of doing it leaves much to be desired.

You shouldn't ever have to "remember" what apps you had on your phone.

Download Appbrain and backup the apps you download:

Or you can even do Astro File Manager for backup
