Will the EVO 4G get Sense 3.0? Discuss.

however, i am on a sense 3.0 rom right now and it is pretty amazing. i wish that htc would hire some of the devs that make these roms. i do not see no reason as to why these roms can't be made available for the evo.

also if you do decide to root but can't yet, i have a feeling that very soon an exploit will be found. we will then be able to root gingerbread. so sit tight and be patient.

Exactly. My wife has seen HTC Sense 3.0 on my Sprint HTC EVO 3D and she really likes it.

I keep telling her that her handset can have it, but not yet. This is because her Sprint HTC EVO 4G came with Android 2.3 out of the box.

Since Sprint is dropping the Evo in Oct - the question now arises in my mind: what advantage would I have if I root my Evo?

well the advantage is that the dev community so far has no plans on dropping the evo. it is still going strong with no signs of slowing. i believe that they are still coming out with roms for the hero still! so i would not worry about it too much, you can still get you flashing fix, once we gain root.

Indeed! This is one of the many areas where the dev community excels, they will likely support the Evo 4G for years. The htc Dream/G1 is still supported by the dev communioty and that phone went EOL eons ago.

Yeah. Officially, you will never seen HTC Sense 3.0 on your Sprint HTC EVO 4G. :)

What I was talking in my previous post was rooting and flashing a ROM with HTC Sense 3.0. That is still possible even after it reaches End Of Life. Indeed, the Sprint HTC Hero is still very much supported by the development community. I have no doubts that they will get Ice Cream Sandwich onto it somehow. ;)

I dont get why you guys get all hard over a piece of software that turns your phone into slugs. I had maybe 70MB free of internal memory after using those synergy roms. EVERYTHING was laggy and slow.

Ever think the reason they stopped designing for the evo was because of its memory limitations?

only 70MB??? and slug??
sorry that you/EVO could not get synergy to run correctly.

but i had over double 70MB left and no slug

I wasn't too impressed with Synergy either but have been running MikG ROMs for a while (currently on 2.45) and they are amazing. They are Sense 2.1 ROMs but incorporate some of the Sense 3.0 features. I have tweaked a few things and always replace the keyboard because the default one is really laggy, but otherwise the ROMs are great. It doesn't have the 3D carousel effect for switching home screens but it's awesome otherwise!

The 2.45 release has a lot of apps moved from /system to /data though (to make it easy for people to delete apps), but I have deleted a lot of them and the rest I plan on moving back to /system using adb.

i think that the point of this thread was that will a non rooted evo ever get sense 3.0. the answer unfortunately is no. and i have not seen any evidence that the evo will ever get an updated version of sense. in a few months the evo goes eol. so maybe one more update....maybe.

and if you guys have not tried mik3d then you are missing the best sense 3.0 rom out there. i can't wait til it is a final release. it is still in alpha!
