"Step 3 - Updating CF-ROOT Kernel Now you are on VillainRom you will need to update the kernel to match the rom. At the time of writing this is the KG1 kernel (but check in IRC or on the rom post if your not sure). This time you will want to keep this as a .zip file. First of all, install VRTweaks from http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/sh...v1.3.1-(29-May), and install it. Place the CF-ROOT .zip file onto your phone and then open the "CWM" app, once open go to "flash kernel" and point it to that .zip file. The phone will reboot."
I don't understand this part. I've done everything to the letter in the guide ([26/7][XXKG3] VillainROM 2.3 for SGS2 < The ROM Noonski couldn't drain the battery on - xda-developers) but now I'm stuck. How do I get to "flash kernel" I don't see the option to do so either in recovery or in the app itself?

You do know the link you provided at the top is the old version of villain rom 2.3? The new version is 2.4.2 and this includes ninphetamine kernal so you dont need to do the step of updating cf root.

Doesn't it matter that I can't find CWM manager in my app drawer though? I thought that it not being there meant i had done something incorrectly?

No. CWM app is only included in CF root kernal. Villain does not use cf root kernal anymore it uses ninphetamine kernal so the app will be missing. If you want the app I can send you a copy?

Wait forgive my stupidity for a moment.

1.So because I have used VillainROM 2.4, I can disregard this cf root kernal stuff? My phone has been successfully flashed?

2. Um I really don't know, is it important to have it?

3. And now the tricky one, I've done this my phone so what now? Can I just start goofing around with themes etc now? I'm excited to get rid of the hideous stock lock screen pattern on the sgs2.

If you are on villain 2.4 then you can ignore the cf root part.
Its not important, you only really need it to get rid of the yellow triangle on boot when you rooted.
Yes you can go ahead and start flashing themes now :) There is no way to change the lockscreen on villain unless you use an app to do it thats always running.

Hmmm I do have the little yellow triangle though? I would like to hide/remove it if I could.

You guys a freaking geniuses on here by the way, I hope Karma looks after you for all the help you give to the non-technically minded.

Download this
Copy it onto your phone then install it.
Download a stock kernal from here
Password is intratech@XDA
Run the exe file on your pc. It will extract the file for you.
Open odin, click PDA and select the .tar file you just extracted
Put your phone in download mode and connect it to your pc.
Click start and wait for the phone to reboot.
Once rebooted, extract the .tar file you just used and you should get a file called zImage. Copy that file onto your phone.
Go into CWM app choose flash kernel option, choose the zImage.
The phone will reboot and the triangle will be gone.

Thank you so much for help.
If I can, one final question since it's something I just noticed.
When I ended a call a few moments ago I noticed a new symbol I hadn't seen before in the call summary.
It kind of looks like a capital M will a line struck through it?
