Hi all,

I think its important that we keep this thread alive by keep updating the counts of the areas where EVDO becomes available.

There was another thread but it got locked by the Mod due to some discussions...... lets not do that on this one.

Note, to update just add the post to the thread and I'll update the count.
If you get 3G EVDO icon, if possible also post a speedtest (available on the market) with the up/down speeds.

This is what we have so far:

Jax FL seems uncapped 900kb/s down Though it is not always available depending on where in town you are.
Tampa, looks like no at this time. Update, close to the water, maybe just one tower has evdo.
Orlando Fl Had uncapped but possibly capped around 200kb/s - Edit 8/21 Cap confirmed at 200kbps.
Cocoa FL No evdo as of yet.
Kissimmee FL evdo, unknown if capped though.
Apopka, FL capped, but possibly part of the orlando network.
This seems to extend out to ormond beach
Lakeland Fl EVDO, Definitely Capped.
Surrounding areas of Lakeland, still to confirm, but capped.
Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach, FL - No EVDO
Downtown Miami - South Miami - North Miami - Fort Lauderdale before Commercial Blvd - LIVE ON EVDO!!!! Initial reports show 1004kbps UNCAPPED!! this is beautiful. -> Waiting on more confirms and in the rest of Broward / Dade counties.
Southwest FL - No EVDO yet. Officially Announced, no ETA.
SWFL Naples area no evdo as of yet.
Coral Springs, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, North Miami Florida - NO EVDO yet

Atlanta GA No known evdo.
Dallas TX Most of the Area EVDO, seems capped at 200kbps, but faster than 1x.
Detroit Mi, Not looking like any change yet.

LA CA Possible evdo no speed results yet.
SF & Sacramento CONFIRMED EVDO at 1300~ kbps!
Stockton CA and Surrounding, Capped evdo

Riverside CA Sporatic evdo, possible rollout happening now

Im in Orlando. The tower seems to reach its signal limit about 2 miles before reaching Bithlo on SR50, with the strongest signal pretty much in the entire metro area.

Unfortunately I can also confirm it is capped at about 200kbps for me -_-

Sorry to hear about the Cap mario... good thing is that you guys have 4G up there.... so u have the option to get a 4G handset! :)

Thanks for the input.. ill update it on the count!

It should be spelled chief and its use like that is generally accepted as offensive to Native Americans. I would respectfully ask that you refrain from using it that way on here.

I thought we were in a forum to share knowlege, information and help each other.

I offended any body, most certain sorry I am, and my sincere apologies!

But please... Lets limit to to that, share knowledge info and help, not criticize or diminish anyone.

As I said before with the 3019 prl you could stand right under a evdo tower an never pick up the 3g signal :D

if you plan on going where there is known evdo you may want to put the 3020 prl on.:p

There is no need for the sarcasm. I treated you respectfully and expect the same in return. If I was here to diminish you in any way, I would have just reported it to the admins and you would likely have been formally reprimanded. I don't think you meant it as offensive and that is why I replied. This is an open internet forum. You should conduct yourself with the same manners as you would in public.

I respectfully ment the post. I was being zero sarcastic, but straight forwad.

Lets stick to the EVDO zone map ok?
Or you could just open another thread for manners. Just saying.

no the 3020 is not an automatic update, they are only pushing it out to select phones, I do not know why, how, or what select process they use. I am in jax and I never got it even after 50+ *228's. Another guy in jax did get the update, he pulled it off his phone and posted it then I tested out the update.

I live in Lakeland and I got 3G immediately after I updated to 3020. If you want your phone to pick up 3G where they have it available then you want your PRL to be 3020. Dialing *228 actually made me lose the 3G that I had automatically gotten because it put me back at 3019.

I believe it's capped at 200 kbps because after a few speed tests I can't get above that.

I drive from Lakeland to Tampa every day and I can tell you that 3G goes out and comes back in right outside of Lakeland. I went to Winter Haven a few days ago and I never noticed the 3G going away.
