Turn off mobile data

How do I turn off mobile internet... I dont want it to come on at all...

I want to use wifi while at home or elsewhere where their is wifi but I dont want to use mobile internet or anything like that...

I thought I had it turned off by using only 2g networks, but every couple of days regardless of what I do I get a message from Vodafone saying I've used all my prepay balance... Meaning that the damn phone is still using the mobile internet when I dont want it to and costing me money for nothing...

So how do I just disable it completely... Perhaps one day in the future when mobile internet plans dont cost a fortune in my country Ill use it, but for now Im happy with just using wifi when available.

It should be disabled when you turn on wifi and your wifi is conneted.

Settings - Wireless & Network - Mobile Network. Disable to turn off mobile network.

My phone also has a pull down with toggle for turning mobile network on and off. Certain things will automatically turn on the network.

I called my phone company and just asked them to block the data from their end so I do not accidentally incur data charges. I only use wifi.

2G != no data. Consider that there are data devices that use 2G and 1G.

It should be disabled when you turn on wifi and your wifi is conneted.

Read the OP again. OP does not want to use mobile data even when not on WiFi.

When I go Menu>Settings>Wireless & Network Settings>Mobile Networks>

The options I have are:

Data Enabled (tick box)
Data Roaming (tick box)
Network Mode (brings up a menu)
Access Point Names (brings up a menu)
Use only 2G networks (tick box)
Network Operators (brings up a menu)

Am I correct in assuming that if I untick "Data Enabled" it will turn it off? Will turning that off affect my wifi?

But mobile network can still be turned on without you knowing. On my phone a power off and then a power on will turn on mobile network. I think some apps may turn on mobile network when they try to sync.

Best way to avoid accidental data charges is to ask your phone company to block data to your phone. You can unblock anytime by calling them.

Of course using free wifi in a shopping mall can result in some buggy double posting like my last post!!!!

Also, I use an app called "Quicksettings" It enables me to turn on/off data from the notification bar. You can customize it with other buttons as well. This way you don't have to go into your settings menu.
