emerica's post that the update was live at around 10:13 pm today. Inside there was a link to a Verizon Wireless support page pdf that turned up a blank page. now that post has vanished out of thin air. mysterious.

checked for system updates on my phone and just got an update installed. anyone know what it fixes? I don't know all the GB issues but I'm looking for a fix to the camera resolution settings that keep reverting back to widescreen. so far so good but it's only been a few minutes.

(Here's a c/p from that document.)

Enhancements:
+ Download Manager App:
New App to manage all of your downloads from
web browsing, email attachments and other apps.
+ App and Power Management Details:
Under Manage Applications, a new “Running” tab displays a list of active
applications , as well asthe storage and memory being used by each.
+ Multi-Touch Key-Chording:
New ability to enter numbers and symbols with keyboard shortcut combos,
without having to change to the numeric keyboard mode.
+ Improved Word Selection and Copy Functionality:
New capability to select a word via press-hold. A second press of
the selected word copies the selected characters.
+ New User Interface and Color Scheme:
New widgets, icons and screens with refreshed colors.
+ Dock Icons:
Three swappable icons and the App Launcher icon are fixed to the Dock at
the bottom of all home screen panels for easy and instant access. The Phone,
App Launcher and Contacts icons are now within this a customizable dock.
+ App Groups:
New App Menu allows creation of custom app groups, in addition to 3 default groups:
All Apps, Recent and Downloaded.
+ Emergent Groups and Smart Contacts:
Based on usage, participant and addressee suggestions are made in Calendar entries,
emails and text messages. Create groups instantly based on the context of what
you’re doing. For example, quickly create a group based on a suggested Calendar
invitee list or the group of people with whom you’re texting.
+ Updated Calendar Options:
• Display Calendar and event times in your home time zone when traveling.
• Dismiss individual reminders, such as dismissing one meeting reminder without
dismissing other meeting reminders.
• Easy conference dialing – simply dial and automatically enter a conference
code directly from your Calendar.
Other Improvements:
+ Geo-Tagging for Camera applications.
+ Calendar application:
• Calendar appointments created on the device with Exchange ActiveSync will
correctly display on the device.
• Update calendar appointments with Exchange ActiveSync without deleting them.
• Successfully sync the Inbox and Calendar when using Exchange ActiveSync.
+ Email application:
• Improved contact syncing from multiple accounts.
• Email pushes now work correctly when using Exchange ActiveSync.
• Exchange ActiveSync account setup will accurately present server option.
• Forwarded emails send properly while using Exchange ActiveSync.
• POP3/IMAP emails now show the correct date stamp.
+ Successfully edit Contacts without being directed to the home screen.
+ Autofocus Camera feature has been improved for use in low-light conditions.
+ Improved battery life while using Bluetooth

Didn't fix the BT not waking up the DX when dialing from the car. Still happening in the Lexus and my buddies handsfree. Same issue I reported in another thread. Never a problem before the original GB update. Removed the phone from BT and reinstalled. No change.

You have the bypass turned on, right? Sounds like the thing they broke in the very 1st phone update (after launch). They considered this a "security feature". At some point they added a "Allow Bluetooth bypass" option (under Loc & sec settings).

Anyone tried the built in bluetooth in a Nissan yet? It got screwed up with the original GB release as well. Thanks in advance!

What problem? Works fine with GB in my Maxima (2011)
Maybe it's just some of the older models. (Check out the Motorola Forums for Droid X to find the multiple posts of complaints) I've got a 2007 that it no longer works with since the original GB. It let's me make calls, I hear the phone ringing through my car's speakers, and then there is no sound from the person on the other end.

Anyway, to answer my own question, per folks on the Moto's forum, the update did not fix the bluetooth issue for Nissan folks having the issue.

I noticed that instead of defaulting the camera to Widescreen after a reboot, it does it every time you exit the camera now. They fixed that bug the wrong way! But if it stops dropping cell connection and stops random reboots (since the original GB OTA, I haven't had my uptime pass 1 day 14 hours), then I'll learn to live with the camera. I can do my last early update in April, or just wait until next August, so if I just can't deal with it, or some new issues pop up with this fix (installed it this morning), at least I don't have too long to wait.

My workaround for the camera bug is to install the Google Plus app and add the G+ widget to the home screen. The widget has an icon to take a picture, and it always uses the 8 MP resolution. So now I have a quick way to take a picture in either resolution I want: use the default camera app for widescreen pics and the G+ widget for 8 MP pics.

Bonus: the G+ widget gives me the option to retake a photo.

Not-so-bonus: After taking a photo, the G+ widget opens up a dialog to share the photo. So if you don't want to share it and just want to take another picture, you have to hit the back button to discard the post.
