atrix how well does everyone like it

Reasons I love my Atrix.
1. I love the size of the screen it is bigger than my old Iphone's and allot larger than my old Aria. Although it is not to big I don't like huge phones.
2. I love how fast and powerful it is, what ever I through at this phone it handles it like a champ.
3. The camera on the Atrix is really nice also. The front facing camera is cool I have yet to actually use it though.
4. All the accessories you can get for it, and all the things you can do with them.

Those are just some of the top four I can think of right off the top of my head.
But it really jsut comes down to which phone do you like better? If you want a huge screen get the infuse. I think they are both good phones but I is all personal preference, I would personally choose the Atrix but that is just me.

I'm in the same boat man. The 4" screen, and great hardware, and good price is what has this phone in the running for me. I could probably accept a 4.3" screen phone, but they are borderline too big. The infuse is just too big, although I still think its a great phone.

So it comes to Atrix versus LG Thrill versus the Galaxy SII when it comes out late this month or early next (sounds like that when it will be available). The LG Thrill has price, hardware and 3D on its positive side (although the 3D I don't care about...look at it as more of a bonus) but its overall size is pretty much as big as the Infuse.

The SGS2 will have hardware on its side, and also will be a bit smaller/thinner/lighter than the Thrill but (not by a lot, but it helps), but it will surely be the most expensive (guessing at least $200 with contract)

Looking forward to trying out all of these phones in person.

Call quality is perfect, data is wicked quick, speakers are brilliant. The screen is second ONLY to Samsung. It has no problems. I use phones harder than anyone (i killed a Nexus I tried out). The only phone better than the atrix in each way is Sprint's moto Photon, which is just a newer Atrix. Get it, you will love it. Oh, and whites are whiter on the atrix than the infuse or captivate. It's really a brilliant phone.

I love my Atrix. I was thinking about buying a netbook, but am able to do everything I need on my phone.

Pros

1) Very fast switching thru apps, home screens and internet.
2) Screen size is just right. Not to big, not to small. Is very bright and able to see in direct sunlight. Beautiful colors and sharp. Responsive and easy to type on in both landscape and portrait.
3) Battery life is really good. I am a heavy user and on average can get 12 to 16 hrs on a charge.
4) Fingerprint scanner works well. You do have to wait sometimes for it to initialize and read your print.
5) Onboard 16GB memory is more then enough. Plus you can expand it another 32 GB by SD card. This is a must for those that have or take a lot of pictures and videos. Store movies, documents and MP3 files on there phone.
6) Call quality is very clear and loud, even when the signal is weak.
7) Functionality all around is really easy, once you get use to how everything works.
8) GB update. (I haven’t upgraded to it yet.)
9) Camera takes good pictures during the day and at night. Some do come out granny when you zoom in to far or don’t have the correct setting selected. 720P video record looks really good. Even on a big screen TV.
10) Doesn’t take long to charge.
11) GPS works really great and is fast to lock.
12) Wifi works well too.
13) Flash and video playback is awesome. When your on wifi, 3 or 4G, even actions scenes play really well without having to refresh.
14) Front facing camera. (I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet.)
15) Ability to use Moto Phone Portal or Media Share to transfer and manage contacts, music, pictures and files on phone from computer.
16) HDMI out
17) All the additional accessories: laptop dock; standard dock and entertainment dock. (I don’t have any as of yet.)
18) Ability to use the phone as a hotspot. (Additional fees required.)
19) world phone
20) External speaker sounds really good, even all the way up. (No distortions.)
21) I listen to my music using the headphone jack and the sound is really good.
22) Pinch to zoom is pretty smooth and web browsing with flash video is really good too.
23) LEDs are really bright and works well a flash light.
24) If you like social networking, this phone is for you. (I don’t use this feature.)
25) Easy to keep up with news with all of the widgets and able to resize the widgets as well.
26) 1GB of RAM allows less slow down when running a lot of apps. (I have 179 apps to date.)
27) The Atrix is an all in one phone: Cellphone, digital camera, digital recorder, MP3 player, GPS, netbook/laptop and digital TV.

Cons

1) Motoblur. (I use ADW Launcher Free.)
2) Sometimes the fingerprint scanner stops working and the phone has to be powered off to reset it.

Just got my Atrix earlier this week. Tried a Samsung Captivate (AT&T SII) and didn't like it nearly as well. The Captivate didn't play at all well with my Ford Sync. The Atrix does. Motoblur seems to be aptly named - it'll befuddle you quickly. It didn't work to sync my contacts, so I synced them using gmail, which worked flawlessly. Haven't had the phone long enough to say more at present, but I am happier with it than I was with the Samsung...

I had an Atrix for about a week when they first came out. I was not pleased with the device at all. The battery life was quite poor, and I also thought that the screen was rather horrid. I went with a Nexus S instead and I have been much more satisfied. The motoblur UI basically ruined the whole experience.

I keep hearing that everyone does not like the MOTOBLUR as well...one member above mentioned using an ADW Launcher?

Can someone explain to me what the launcher is and how it works (sorry this will be my first smartphone so I'm no expert in this matter lol).

Does it just allow you to build your own screens, or is it basically just a new layout/interface and not much tweaking is needed? Also, is it easy to revert back to default?

Thanks guys.

ADW Launcer is just a replacement launcher. Basically, you can change the screen layouts. And have other settings too. You can revert back to the stock launcher at anytime. Just use "home switcher".

Launchers are essentially layout/interface changers, as you surmised. They allow for a lot more customization options. You can install an app like "home switcher" to swap back and forth between launcher options, as well.

As for the OP's question: I was an early adopter of the Atrix and returned it within my 30 day window. As far as I'm aware, the issues that I had with the phone at that point have since been resolved (data speeds and the locked bootloader were the big ones). If the dev community can get a solid (functional!) version of CM7 on this phone, I'll likely sell my Captivate and move back to this phone.

This phone, at it's current price point (or any lower price points) is a nice deal. The Attain (the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S II) has better specs, but who knows when it will actually be released - could be several months down the road.

One thing that probably goes without saying is the accessory ecosystem. You can buy a refurbed lapdock (if you wanted one) from AT&T for about $175, which is pretty much where they should have been to start with. At that price they really do add nice value to the Atrix if you are on the road / mobile and want a larger, fuller experience.

Just understand what you're getting, it's a web experience that approaches a netbook, not a full-blown laptop. For what it does, I really am a fan of it.

Hi. So I have had my Atrix for about 3 weeks. Over the last week or so, a screen has appeared indicating that a new software download was available. I finally got around to downloading it today. I thought it would be few little changes here and there. However, the download took about half hour to download and the phone, after the download, is quite different, both in operating and how it looks. Many of the icons I had become familiar with are now slightly different and some of the functions have become more difficult. Anyone know if I can go to the old interface?

You just went from Froyo (2.2) to Gingerbread (2.3). Kind of like going from Windows XP to Windows 7...the interface is different but the experience, once you get used to it, is better.

That said, any way of downgrading probably involves installing a ROM on the phone. And if you're looking at the word "ROM" and going "huh?" right now...that's probably not something you want to do.

Overall, I'm so happy with this phone.

Pros!
1. Comes with a usb-adaptable wall charger.
2. "How-to" videos built right into the phone!
3. Camera quality is good. (not sure about video quality yet.)
4. Super easy to move music, and it actually has 2 different ways to do it.
5. Tons of space on the "home screen" for apps and widgets.
6. Pretty fast when loading apps, using the net, etc.
7. You can use any music file as a ringtone.
8. Awesome security - you can choose between creating a numerical password, drawing a pattern, or scanning your fingerprint. The latter is especially important because it makes me feel like a high-tech secret agent.
9. GPS works really well, and you can adjust the volume of it or turn the volume off!
10. Additionally, if you're also listening to music while using the gps, it will fade out the music to give you directions (if you have the GPS in silent, it doesn't interrupt your music at all). It also fades out the music to let you know you have a text or a phone call.
11. This phone is super flexible, and it does everything. Facebook, calling, texting, pic texting, email, video calling, internet, news. It's a nice blend of business and fun, so in my opinion it's great for anyone.
12. It syncs automatically with gmail and facebook, so there were very few people who I had to track down for phone numbers.

Cons!
1. It syncs automatically with gmail and facebook, so I do feel like a creeper for having phone numbers that weren't given to me in person.
2. It seems to have an issue with charging. It tends to suck up juice fairly quickly, especially if you accidentally leave the screen set at "never time out", and it charges so slooooowly, it feels like. This is a phone you have to remember to charge every night.
3. I am having issues with it in relation to my car speakers. More info here!
4. There is a distinct lack of physical personalization available. I had to go to 6 different stores in 2 seperate malls before I could find a hard case for it, and the only color left was solid pink. It also doesn't have a spot for a cell phone charm, or any other sort of embellishment.

But overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It is a lovely phone, and hopefully the only serious issue (#3) will be resolved soon!

I love my Atrix. had it about 2 months now and it is now set up the way I want it. I came from many years of blackberry and it was difficult at first to use "the same" as BB, once I embraced Android, I fell in love with it. The screen is amazing, the power is, well, powerful and the battery is decent for an Android phone. I love all the flexibility of this platform and all the customizations that can be done. Great phone, great operating system.
