Root i rooted my evo 4g gingerbread how do revert back to non-root?

hmmmmm, i scoured the new 2.16 hboot thingy about unrooting, but found very little, im gonna see if ocn can can get with the other guides to update the rooting for dummies guide to include those with the new hboot n stuff.... check back tomorrow fellas

yep unfortunately there is no s-on. and running unrevoke s-on tool will not work with the new hboot. you can run a ruu to get a stock recovery and a stock rom installed but no s-on. honestly i do not think that sprint cares at this point if your phone has s-off. as long as it has a stock recovery and a stock rom you are good to go.

here is the ruu if you need it:MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

damn OCN, you work fast!! heres my 2 cents, how about reverting back to the older hboot once rooted and unrooting that way? DONT ANYONE TRY IT UMTIL VERIFIED AS A LEGIT METHOD (sorry for yelling LoL) but it might just work.... i just dont want to be the cause of any possibilities of bricking....
well the only thing with that is that the ruu does not change the hboot. which is what is needed to get s-on. so i'm not sure if that will work. if you try and succeed. i would very interested to know.

isnt there an hboot changing method? ive never tried it, but ive heard of people reverting back to 1.?.?. in months past... i might be mistaken

there is but that was when hbot 2.10 was the latest. the idea was that to trick the phone into think it is accepting an update when in fact it is installing a different hboot. but it was designed for hboot 2.10. so i dont think that will work.

but you get an A for effort.:D

Apparently there's a way to do it on the incredible. Just need the same files from the evo.
i do not think that will work. the main idea for unrooting is to get s-on and unfortunately the hboots will be different then the incredible and thus it is not possible to get s-on yet. i would not try this until and official release of a tool or if someone has something specific for the evo to get s-on. until then i would wait. or use a ruu.

im trying to help a friend with her galaxy s, how do you backup memos from it to restore? i didnt see an apk for that. ive already posted in that forum with no response.... sorry for posting this here y'all :(

Hmm... no clue. Only thing I can think of is:
a) an export option in the app
b) TB the data (hard to do when you don't know the .apk)
c) ??? three seemed to work better. Good luck with that.
