Bit the bullet... Triumph Battery!

My battery usage is getting ridicules, so I called Moto and they have 7000 in stock. I paid 50 bucks, but figured by the time they come out with them, I would have pulled all the hair out of my head! I also think that after they do show up, the OEM replacements will likely go for at least $30. Sure, you will be able to get aftermarket ones... been there done that without much luck.

I spent $300 on the phone, so I figured an extra 50 to keep my sanity wasn't too bad of a trade off for me. But, I'm old (older!) and have a few extra bucks.

They have cheap triumph chargers on ebay - not sure if is bogus, but I would think you'd want one so you can keep the spare charged easier.
(I asked the sellers if they could get their hands on fb400 batteries since they are actually over in asia, but no dice.)

I am tempted to get one also - that really sucks that Motorola is just sitting on them - gouge gouge gouge. I don't understand where all the other fb400 variants customers are getting their batteries. With the crappy battery life the Triumph has it seems like real wasted opportunity for these cheapo battery manufacturers - I'd do it myself if I had any knowledge in this area.

Thanks, I do have a universal charger that works. I got it for the second battery a got for the Optimus V (that I had only 6 weeks before trading in for the Triumph)!

I have found juice defender works well, also only using wifi, gps when needed (if they are on forget about it).

$50! OUCH!

The best thing to do is buy extra micro usb cables. I just plug a micro usb cable at my work desktop, use the charger at home, and have a cable plugged into my car.

Almost all newer phones are standardized on micro usb cables. You can easily buy the cables off of ebay for $1 a piece and that includes shipping. I bought mine from

ebay seller stellar_items.

Still have your old Optimus V cable? That'll work since again it's a standardized micro usb format.

I'm retired, so I use the phone quite often. Plus I seem to be addicted to the dang thing! When I'm out, I usually have both bluetooth and wi-fi on and also forget (again getting older) to turn them off. I sit outside poolside (in Florida) in the AM and have my coffee and cigar, read news apps for a long time, then search for more apps!

So in answer to your question, I only get a good 6 hours until I'm down to about 30%. so if I'm going to be gone all day and evening, I need to carry a spare charged battery with me. By the way, I'm REAL lucky, 56 and retired! Worked at the same NBC TV station as a production manager/director for 25 years, and that was enough! OBAMA is after my money in taxes! LOL

I have an extra micro usb cable at work, and the phone came with a car charger that I keep in my car. For the most part my charge lasts 1-2 days with moderate use. I also have Juice Defender installed. Battery life overall doesn't seem to bad, and I have background updates/notifications and whatnot going on.

Anyway have you actually ran to 0 battery life? I have and recharged the battery and it seems to last longer now. Like I mentioned get juice defender, it will shut your unused radios for you.

I haven't run the bat that low, I guess your suggesting to give that a try? Will the free Juicedefender work well? There seems to be 3 or 4 of them! Which one do you use?

Yes run the phone till it shuts down then charge it fully. I am using the free version with good results and may try the pay one as to support the good software developers!

NO S**T! Installed yesterday.. drained 30% in two hours..Uninstalled, much better. Now just back to the same old same old. The new battery arrives this week thank God. Geez, 1 tank of gas costs me $60..... yet I (and collectively) WE all still drive. A good dinner out with the wife...$80.....a so-so laptop...$800...A Corvette...$80,000.....A backup battery so you won't kill yourself...PRICELESS!

1.) If you're getting 30% battery drain in 2 hours with juice defender, you're using the wrong settings, or you were using your phone actively, which Juice Defender is mostly marginal on for improving performance
2.) Juice defender is brilliant, and I mean absolutely brilliant for helping with standby power drain loss. If you're on your phone actively, it's not really going to be doing much for you for the most part
3.) Driving is a common, necessary expense. If I could bike 300 miles and save a tank of gas, to get me a battery, I would, but it's not practical for most of us, so we fill up on gas and drive to and from work
4.) If you're spending $800 on a so-so laptop, you're either buying a MAC, or you're spending far too much I got a quad i7, HD Radeon 6770, 8 gigs of ram, 500gb 7200rpm HD, 17" 900p, blu ray player, laptop, brand new, for $850 shipped. Some of us prefer to go the frugal route, and with Juice defender and autokill, I can get a full day of moderate to heavy use out of my triumph between charging. No need for a spare $50 battery. If they came down to $15 or $20? Sure, I'll pick one up. But not for $50.

Still, if Seido makes the extended life battery (and I've heard rumor they will in 6-8 weeks), then I'll spring the $80 or whatever it ends up being to grab that, as it's more than a spare battery to swap to (and I had it on my epic and it completely changed how I used my phone).

I appreciate that you gained access to this site to reply to little o' me!
I guess this whole process of do's and don'ts simple mirrors the feedback given on the Android Market...Some love the apps, some not so much. I guess it depends on both expectation and performance. You are correct, after I downloaded Juice-Defender, my expectations were quite high. I then proceeded to A) play my sirius/xm radio in the background B) read some of the many news apps I have C) continue to search the Market for a better battery life app. After 2 hours of this, this is when I noticed the 30% drop in my battery. I understand I was doing a lot and along with that comes battery drain. My expections were trumped by the under-performance of the app.

I'm by NO nature a frugal kinda' guy (never have been, never will be). My analogies come from my life.

A)My wife and I go out for expensive dinners quite often.
B) I own both a 17" Macbook Pro (way more then $800) and A 24" desktop Imac (don't even go there!!)
C)...you guessed it! I own a Corvette!

Now as to "killing myself" because I have short battery life on my Android, I think I was being a little facetious. As you may note from above..I have a pretty good life and for ME... $50 is a very small price to pay not to have to scramble around looking for an electrical outlet while I'm out and about.

Lesson learned....we all have to pay a little more for premium items. LOL

Yup, if you were using your triumph actively and expecting JuiceDefender to do much for you, that's probably where the confusion came in. The real power of JD is to conserve battery during standby. Basically, what it does is turn off the radio's that aren't being used and set your background syncs to coincide with radio's turning on and off.

Furthermore it can keep your wifi radio off and let you use 3G in places where you don't have constant wifi connections with smart wifi, so it's mostly a convenience to people who don't toggle their radio's a lot when using the phone, or keep their phone in standby for a long time while at work.

And Corvettes are nifty Seems like you've got a solid life. Then no worries, the $50 battery probably makes more sense for you than anything else. Although you might want to check out the Seido battery for this phone when it comes out. As I mentioned, I had it for my epic, and it completely changed how I used my phone. I could get 2-3 days of heavy use out of it, instead of just barely a day. Really reminds me of what phones used to be like before they became so smart.
