Help Headphone / Jack socket

Hi all, got my Wildfire S some time back, returned the first to Amazon as the headphone jack kept disconnecting but the relpacement has the same issue too. If it moves a little in my pocket the headphones disconnect.
Anyone else have this problem?

I had a Wildifre for ages with no problem at all.

Just been having a play with this for you now.
I'm finding the socket very secure, more so than other phones/mp3 player's I've had to be honest.
Seems very secure

Hi, thanks for the reply. I didn't make it very clear I think. It's the headphones that come lose from the jack socket and when they move around (not come out) the phone automatically disconnects them.
I was hoping there was some way to stop the phone thinking they'd come lose?

I've had mine for 12 dayes, and the jack plug is on the verge of falling out of the phone by the sligthest touch. if i put the phone in my pocket with the jack connected, one of the channels (right or left) stops playing..

How can HTC allow hardware like that on the market in their brand?

I am also having big problems with the SDHC card. bought a kingston 32 gb class 4 and i works when i plug it in the phone, but as soon as i have to write data on the card (take a picture, download a program...) it disconnects!? wtf?

I thought that it was a single fault, so i went to the shop where i got a new phone.. tried to plug in the 32 gb kingston sdhc card, and same procedure (and btw, the phone jack is also loose in the new phone) as soon as i write on the card, it disconnects and the phone says that the card have been removed.

THen i thought that the fault must be in the card, so i went to the dealer and the dealer gave me a new card....

and again! same problem! What the duce! (Family guy) Why is it acting like that? it must be programming, because the phone should support the 32 gb sdhc card, and when the card is kingston? bought at a legit retailer in Copenhagen?

I an soon about to quit an surrendering to the dark side (apple) - where things seem to be working without the constant need for fiddeling

I know this sound silly, but it's the last .5mm that makes the connection. Which feels like it just passed the locating notch. As other people have said it keeps popping back out (.5mm) when the phone is in your pocket.

mines ok but i can see how its a problem waiting to happen, the slightest mm out and it disconects, apart from that im impressed by sound quality of the phone and the HTC headphones, nice and bass'y

Yeah I know what you mean! I just got my Wildfire S and if I don't completely push in the headphone, it just plays through the speaker.

I haven't tried the headphones it comes with but it seems to work very well with the headphone I bought from apple for my iPod touch (remote and mic). It just seems like I have to force it to go that last .5 mm in.

Hmm I've had mine for about a week now, I went for a jog yesterday and kept my headphones in the whole time. I had no issues with it, infact I found it very secure. I have to pull it out pretty hard to get them out.

Update. Just received a replacement Wildfire S (must say great service from Handtec UK).
The new unit has the same problem with the headphone socket as the last one. Must be a design fault. I have spoken to HTC. They said that they were unaware of any problems. Would be interesting to see how may other people are having the same problem.

There is def something wrong with the design I have the same fault where costant disconnecting in my pocket or if the cable moves slightly. So I agree with bluebee but I have only had the phone a month or so and its broken.

Same problem. Jack connector won't stay in. My touch screen didn't work after 2 weeks so I needed to it 3 times until I got a new phone, but this one has the same problems with the connector.

Update. Replaced Wildfire S for a Desire S. Headphone socket perfect!

No issues here so far on my Virgin Mobile phone. Maybe assembly plant issue? Can't tell where you all are from, but maybe just European models have the issue?

im using tha attrix and the headphone socket is hit and miss if it going to work or not but by acident i put the jack plug in my mouth them plug it in without dying it and it works. tryed it later and again its not working wet the jack plug and it fine

I also have the issues in this thread.
what i have found is that the headphone jack is a bit hit or miss, my jack is NOT loose at all, actually quite tight. i have found that it messes up on some jacks not all, i have 2 aux cables one works one doesnt, also my sony studio headphones work fine but earbuds dont, and stereo with mic works best.

i also have issues with my sdhc setup, the phone disconnects randomly from the computer, will still charge but unmounts sd, then the phone does not read the sd until reboot.

now in the last week or so, i have had random app crashes htc, android and third party
