Hello,

I'm new here with one day old Iconia A500 and very happy with it. It's currently ROOTED with the help from this forum.

I have the Droid X phone from Verizon that already Rooted with tethering features.

I'm able to connect my A500 to my Verizon Droid X using Tethering but when I start browse the internet, it won't let me go anywhere beside Verizon page which ask me to pay for the HotSpot service.

Note: I'm able to connect my Laptop PC to Droid X using Tethering.

Please help

Thanks for your reply, just download the "wifi_tether_v3_0-pre14.apk" and and install on my root Droid x and follow the instruction from your tip but A500 still can't browse the internet. It show Verzion page asking to subscribe to Mobile Broadband.

Please help me to connect my A500 to Droid X.

Regard,

I finally can connect my A500 to Droid X, here is how:

1- Download and install "wifi_tether_v3_0-pre14.apk" to Root Droid X and setup as tip from post #2
2- Start Droid Tether
3- Open A500 and connect to Droid, browse internet will give you Verizon page
4- Uninstall "wifi_tether_v3_0-pre14.apk" and reinstall it with the same setup
5- Start Droid Tehter then A500 shoulde be able to browse the internet without VZ page

Also when you set this up make sure and treat it as a wifi router. You should add security and set up the encryption. If not anyone in the neighborhood of your phone will see it and be able to hook up. I found this out from experience when my fellow worker said hay look at this an android network.
I had forgot to turn off tether and it was out in my van.
One other thing I get best results when I set the channel to 6 on my phone.

Another thing you can do is enable access control. This will only allow only certain MAC addresses to connect to your phone while tethering. When a device connects, the app will ask if you want to allow it to pass through.
