Corning, the manufacturer of Gorilla Glass, says it does. Or at least, that is what I have been told.
Before I bought the Tab, I had done some extensive research by reading articles, blogs, and youtube videos. I cannot remember anywhere that said it has Gorilla Glass.

I have also asked the same question to the Verizon Wireless store employees (more than one person at different stores during my pre-purchase research), as well as the Samsung representatives at the Samsung Galaxy Tab demo booth at the mall, they all told me "No".

It will be great if you have a link to Corning's statement. I am sure many of us would like to know. :)

Verizon sales people are a joke!!, but honestly it's not their fault. I was in there yesterday b/c I'm deciding to pull the trigger on getting a tablet & I did more talking then the sales girl and even had another customer come up to me and say "when your done helping her, can you help me?" You could tell she was very embarassed. This has to be a training issue at Verizon b/c there is no way these people are that stupid whether it be in store on via customer service (*611). That is why you have to know your stuff before you go in there. Thanks goodness for sites like these b/c I'd probably be using an iPhone for God sake.

However there are some tech savvy sales people out there, I was at my local electronic store last weekend and me and the sales person there where talking about products and he was surprised I knew a lot of info about the product. At lease we where on the same boat since he even knew stuff about I didn't know as well.
I think for people wanting to buy something is best to go online since most sales people I have talk to no nothing about products or even up an coming products that they are getting. So if I don't find an answer in store I most of the time come online and then make a decision from there.

i went to Service Centre to get the phone repaired .... under no cost i insist .

but those customers service insisted it's my fault to drop the phone and caused the cracks .

I challenge them do they know what's Gorilla glass display ? they don't even know what is gorilla glass display .

In the end , they have to get it done free of charge for me .

In the event your display cracked , do challenge Samsung for a better service .

Gorilla glass is damage resistant...not damage proof

  • Can I break Gorilla Glass?
If subjected to enough abuse, Gorilla Glass can break. However, Gorilla Glass is better able to survive the real-world events that most commonly cause glass to scratch, chip, or break.

This is Corning's press release...

I was putting my first SGT10 (grey) on the nightstand. I had been listening to the headphones and they were still plugged in (included buds). After I was sure the SGT was secure on the nightstand, I gently tossed the headphone buds on top. gently. very. from about 4". no pop or loud click at all. next morning i noticed a very visible chip. obviously, just very bad luck, as there is some metal on the headphones. But, i would have told you there was no way that could happen, especially with the demos where they intentionally try to scratch it. It may be strong, but its is very brittle.

Gorilla has become the Bose of glass heh

tis very nice though.

Just remember, sand = glass = can scratch gorilla glass

otherwise most anything wont scratch it, even metal. You should see my nexus one. it's scratched all to heck on everywhere but the glass because i keey keys and a metal money clip in the same pocket.

But my Droid 1 got into a pocket with a grain of sand and has one unfortunate scratch on it :S

My friends all wanted to know this question and we too were told 'no' by various low level sales employees. If samsung knew how important this simple question was to consumers, they might do a better job of pushing the info out to retail.

I personally think that most of the general public has no idea what Gorilla Glass is. Us techie folks seem to be the only ones that care. :)
