Flaws? Some would say that they should have put a bigger CPU in it.
Problems can be a little bit more subjective. In many cases I think problems are user error and can be easily avoided. Other times I think some apps can be a problem. I know that I don't have problems, but I can only speak for myself.

Asking a smartphone user if their phone has problems can change daily depending on how their phone is running that day too.

i personally dont have any problems and have not seen any real problems that weren't caused by the user and fixed courtesy of this forum ;). there is a thirty day period with which you can try the phone out. i think you should read a few professional reviews such as HTC Droid Eris (Verizon Wireless) Smartphone reviews - CNET Reviews or Droid Eris Review - Droid eris - Gizmodo

these reviews will give you a good idea as to what kind of phone the eris is. if you like what you see you can go to verizon. if it turns out it is not the ohone for you then you can return it within 30 days no problem

I think you can probably read about most of the Eris issues or "flaws" just by reading the threads throughout this forum. I think the biggest complaint has been battery life. Now with the release of the new bigger batteries that is no longer an issue, but it does become an added expense if it is an issue for you.

Agreed. The most noticeable draw back is battery life.

Reading here, you'll get a good sense of the issues that people are having ... but not necessarily a sense of how prevalent those issues are. Remember that people who have problems are far more likely to come to places like this, if only to vent. Most of the time, when people are happy, they won't bother to say anything.

And I think the vast majority of Eris owners are pretty happy. I know I am.

Judging a product only on the negatives posted in a forum is like judging it based on all the negative reviews on CNET. There will always be some idiot that is pissed off his phone won't make toast or help his love life. It was never inteded to do that, but they will still be upset and post something negative about it to make it look bad.

The best thing anyone can do is to read and see what others are saying. If you see problems then find out if it is real or user error. There aren't to many people that join forums to say how much they love their phone. Also, if you get anything from the stuff others post try to stick around and help out too. At the very least let people know that what they said helped. It really makes people want to keep doing it.

I could not agree with you more. I've been so frustrated sometimes when reading about a problem on the forums and the OP never posts back on the resolution (if any) to the problem. I always come back to the forum and thank everyone who helped, and let folks know what worked. If not, how would anyone ever know?????

The flaw I have with the Eris for me was 'coverage'.

Since it is on the Verizon network and irregardless of the Verizon commercials poking at AT&T, Verizon does not have 'ANY' good coverage where I work. The best right now is AT&T since they just activated a new tower a month ago, Sprint has always had the best coverage in my area for years, and T-Mobile barely better than Verizon. So, I have the cousin of the HTC Eris which is the HTC Hero on Sprint. Yes, it has some broken functionality, but Android 2.1 is coming to this line of HTC handsets which will resolve a lot of the broken functionality like bluetooth and stuff.

I dunno about you, but the eris has helped my love life tons. I now rock a foot-long that goes for hours and squirts out gallons of juice when its done.

oh wait, that was my dibella's roast beef/corned beef sub with tons of the oil dressing.....my bad.

it has helped my love life, though. i'm now able to text my gf while talking my grandmother into not throwing the computer out.

I think the phone is great but here are the flaws Isee

The Camera while it works great (better then expected actually) under perfect lighting anything less then perfect is very poor quality

You have to use the trackball to take pictures, which isn't a big deal but think they could have doen something slightly more convient , I loved my camera on my Dare with the button on the top, it was just like having a digital camera

The speakerphone could be a little louder

Other then that this phone rocks (and will just get better with an OS update and Root, which should be coming soon) , I came from a Dare for 2 years , and a Droid for just over a week.

The ris is a great phone. And once the 2.x update comes it will be even better. I think the biggest complaint you will find is the battery life. I'm still havinga bit of an issue with it but i'm trying to be patient seeing as how i've only had the phone for about a week. Other than that i think the eris and the android platform is top notch.

First week I had the phoen I could barely get thru a day.. Now I can get anywhere from 1-2 days on one charge and I use it for everything , google maps, constant internet useage, email, texing , and I use this as my main music player now also

I do turn my GPS and WiFi off when I don't need them but other then that I really don't do anything special

Just to throw my card in the hat...
I've had my eris for about two weeks now, and my main complaints are:
1. Overall sluggishness - especially when flick-scrolling through long lists or launching applications
2. The capacitive front buttons seem to have a mind of their own. Sometimes I hit them by accident (too sensitive) and sometimes I have to press them multiple times ( not sensitive enough).

Hopefully #1 can be addresses if we get root+overclock ability! (But that would probably kill the battery even more).

I'm happy overall though!
