Hello all, I am not new to the forums but I mostly just come in everyday to check for whats new about our phones when I am bored at work or something, I have stumbled across a problem though and I thought this would be a good place to post for help.

I have been looking around at websites like metamorph and other places to download themes for android phones for around 2 days now.
And I have already tried using programs like metamorph and zipthemer (I think is called) to no success. And searches around google have not helped me either.

I know it can be done on our phones because looking at this thread is a lot of examples of different themes.
http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-m/326446-show-off-your-home-theme.html

And the website where I was looking at the themes/customization stuff
metamorph website: MetaMorph

I have launcher pro plus.

I also purchased LPP and dont even use it because I had a hard time theming it as most themes in the market are for widgits. I use ADW now and there are many different themes for it. however it wont change your notification bar or anything.

UOT Kitchen. Kitchen

That link will take you to where you can create and customize themes any way you want to. Im unfamiliar with it so I cant help you further than providing the link and what its for. good luck and if you have any trouble do a search for the thread about it and ask and I imagine someone will be able to help you with it.

It is pretty simple I made one its being processed now, one question when I go into recovery mode to make a backup theres 4 options

nand backup
+android_secure
+ext backup
+android_secure +ext backup

which one should I choose to make a backup?

and thank you for the help + link det1726

Edit: I also found this about the website from some guy int this forum
http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/343299-make-your-own-themes.html

Edit: I downloaded my file from the kitchen website and I put it in a folder on my sdcard.
I went to recovery, clicked on Flash zip menu, then flash zip from sdcard, opened the folder where I have the zip file in clicked it and pressed menu to confirm install.

This is what it says.

Install : Android/U0T-08-19-18-4
7-1.zip
Press menu to confirm.
any other key to abort.

Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:No signature (8 files)
E:Verification failed

Installation aborted.

Before you flash the zip, be sure to select to turn off signature verify first. Then you should be able to flash the zip.

when you go to flash zip from sd dont forget to toggle verification first. verification needs to be disabled so do exactly as you did only with the added step and you should be good. i am not sure if flashing a theme is like flaashing a rom where you will also need to wipe all data so i would hold off til you know for sure

Did what you guys tell me to do but now I get a message saying there is an error in the zip file

In the site UOT Kitchen. Kitchen when your done choosing all of the settings you want and you go to the file upload link at the top... what do I do?

1. I changed the Edify to type Optimus, is this good or should I leave it normal which is Type MDT or amend scripting?
2. Unticked ThemeChooser preview because I saw that in a youtube tutorial somewhere.
and following the directions I only uploaded the framework-res.apk and nothing else since I have the stock optimus m rom which I believe was froyo and it says

NOTE 1
Froyo rom: framework-res.apk
Gingerbread rom: framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
Gingerbread with sense rom: framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk and com.htc.resources.apk
Cyanogenmod7 rom: Cyanbread.apk or Androidian.apk (renamed as you like)
TouchWiz rom: additional tw-framework-res.apk

do I also need to upload SystemUI.apk or what am I doing wrong.

Can anyone with experience on this check out the File Upload Tab and tell me exactly what I should put on there

thanks and sorry I know nothing about this :)

Hello again guys, had one more question, I am now using the http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/335405-rom-gb-cmod7-beta.html and the only problem I have with it is that in the stock rom, if I wanted to call alex for example I would start typing 2, 5, 3 and it would show suggestions at the top that contain letters from the numbers pressed, but it does not do that with the rom. Can I configure it or does it not support that option.

Edit: in other words, predictive dialer, I am looking around google but if you know how to get this working let me know, or how to do it.

Check the market, but all roms will have things you love and hate so it's all about finding the one you like best, I prefer sense rom myself. And it does have what you want so maybe just flash sense instead? Plus it comes with the oc kernel so it'll save you time and effort as its already overclocked

Could you provide me the link, and what is the main difference between these two roms?
All I have found is this but looks like its a theme http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/323247-rom-theme-sense-rom-optimus-m.html

Edit: Well thanks to this I found out about a free app called dialer one that works like a charm.
But I found out that from the home screen you can just press the search button and type the name of the person you are trying to call and that works too so Ill be using this, the dialer one app is good too and its free, but its ugly.

sense is not just a theme it is a themed rom, cm7 is still beta so its too buggy for my liking thats why i stick with sense, but again glad you got it figured out.

Only thing I use on my phone is literraly opera to view 3 pages, text and call so I will probably flash sense to try it out since I do not install almost anything.

Does sense have a lot of bugs or is most of it figured out, I have been reading the sense rom thread for a bit now before I do anything.

EDIT: the reason why I wanted to write here was to ask if sense rom is gingerbread, froyo?

And also the cm7 rom comes without any bloatware, does this one come without any bloatware

or do I have to root this rom and remove anything? (have not read this yet wanna make sure)

Sense rom has all known bugs worked out as far as I know, I don't notice any at all, cm7 is the only ginger bread rom available and that is why it's beta because the optimus m hasn't received ginger bread yet. Sense rom comes bloat free and again it comes with the oc kernel so just install set cpu and overclock your heart out lol also sense is froyo

already flashed and playing around with it. Thanks for all your help again man.

Ill post here if I have any more questions.

Well I wiped all before I installed sense but somehow my apps were still there.

Anyways everything works perfectly, some apps on there I dont use so I am just going to uninstall some stuff.

Edit: how can I remove apps like the weather apps and playerpro and stuff like that which comes with the sense rom.

example: weather & toggle widgets, weather widget, titanium backup, playerpro, rootexplorer (I use astro), phandroid, adw launcher.

edit again: got it

Lock screens I haven't played with but I believe lockscreen widget or something close to that in the market is for customizing lock screens. Sense rom comes bloat free buddy, all that stuff you already had would be Google Apps, bloat would be considered metro Apps (mail@metro, boingo,, easy wifi, etc...) make sure you check the safe List b4 uninstalling or deleting anything and also look into using titanium backup to freeze Apps rather than delete them.

I had no bloatware on my phone but the sense rom came with weather widgets, an mp3 player and stuff I didnt need so I just got rid of them.
