Help htc desire z wont send messages and deleted all my messages! help

My htc randomly deleted all my messages and then would not send any messages, it just showed the message i sent with the loading circle beside it and thats it. I can recieve text messages though. anyone know why this is happening?
i did have to unlock my phone and change the apn settings, does that have anything to do with it?

I have had the same issue, see thread below. I have not unlocked or done anything to be considered "dodgy" to my phone. Strange things started happening to my phone after the OTA update on xmas day, and all my messages got deleted on the 4th of January, with a similar thing with not being able to send texts. although I can seem to send and receive them now- send doesn't always work (loading circle hangs).

The worst thing is HTC have been less than helpful.

When did these problems start happening for you?

it happened to me today , my phone was restarted by it's own and then I saw my Inbox is empty and all of my messages are deleted .
anyone knows what to do?????

I have had a similar issue, not exactlly the same. I have carried out an update on HTC desire z and had transferred over some saved messages from my old phone (which showed in the htc as undelivered) now, when I turn the phone on, it is automatically sending these messages!!! which there are a few.
I have taken my sim card out, transferred it into the old phone and deleted them, but this hasn't made any difference!!
Any help would be really appreciated??

Hi Fiona, and welcome! You did real well considering how confusing this place can seem to a new member - this is exactly where to post.

All I can suggest it to restart the phone, enable Airplane Mode right away, and delete the msgs showing as undelivered before they are resent. It sounds as if, when they were copied to the SMS database in the phone, they've been misidentified. I don't know of any way to change "undelivered" to "sent" other than some complicated and risky hacking of the SQL database involved.
