When you power off your phone and start up in hboot (volume down + power) what is listed?

Select recovery and list what you see here.

do not use rom manager it is way to buggy. do everything manually in recovery. please read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html sticky. it has all the tools to help you understand the rooting world.

ok so are you at the step where you need to flash the su file? if not then what file are you trying to flash?

So I rooted my phone just fine. But then like 2 days later I restart my phone and it turns back on and says "system uid inconsistent"
I looked around online and somebody said that by fixing the permissions in the recovery mode worked for them. Not for me. So I had to restore my phone from before I rooted and redo everything.
What does that mean when it was flashing "system uid inconsistent"? And is there a way if it happens again that I can fix it without restoring it and doing it over?

i am new to this so bear with me.i want to root my phone and have su.the problem is that i need the file that will do that for me and instruction on how to extract and install it and where to install it on my phone.
do you have recovery? press and hold power+vol down this will get you to hboot. select recovery from there. do you have it ? if you do then go here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html and go to the "before rooting" section and download the su file. transfer the file via the usb cable to the card. then proceed to step 10 and go from there.

if you do not have recovery then go to the switching recovery section of the guide to get a recovery so that you can flash the su file.

also you do not need to extract the su file if you have already. just leave it zipped.

I searched around and can't find the info I'm looking for. My question is, I did a nandroid backup when I did the root on my phone, should I do another one now that I have my phone setup the way I want it? Another question I have is am I able to have more than one nandroid backup on my phone and if so is it possible for this backup to save all my apps and settings?

ok so a nandorid backup is a complete snapshot of your phone. it saves everything from your phone settings to your apps among other things. and it is a good idea to make a nandroid backup when you have your phone setup they way you want it. you can have as many nandroid backups as your card can hold. keep in mind they do take up some space. you can keep some of them on your pc. i only keep two nandroids on my card.
