Prob gonna be embarassed when I get an answer to this, read all over the place and I don't see answer, prob too simple. :)

Bought and dl'd Setcpu, had some issues when I first installed it. Not sure what the problem was. I had to pull the battery and restore a few times till one time I wiped the caches and used the superwipe prog.

I also refrained from overclocking in ondemand, for the time being. :p

I saw the Safemode zip and flashed it but i can't figure out how to do the 'drop a .txt named setcpu_safemode on the root' step.

I understand whatever it I am supposed to put it on sd card at root level, but what exactly am I putting there? How do I have a text file without the .txt ext?

that flag is not necessary to install. the key to remember with setcpu is make sure that if you overclock to high your phone can seize up and bootloop. there is a box that says set on boot. when you are not sure how high your phone can handle then make sure that it is unchecked. once you know where you can go then go ahead and set it on boot. mine can go as high as 1190 any higher then it freaks out.

Still, what is it they are putting on there?

I skimmed that, I didn't see the answer to what I had asked. I initially set mine up with that setting based upon the fact that you said it was working for you. It went into a boot loop pretty quickly, I thought i had fat fingered something. I kept pulling the battery, restoring and trying again. :p I never did click that set on boot, still haven't, just have a screen off profile enabled.

The last time I restored I did all that wiping stuff beforehand and then dl'd and reinstalled setcpu, it has been stable since then.

Thanks for the info! again!
