Official Release Date Rumor Thread

And according to this, Attain is dropping on 08/28 just a day before Sammy announcement whether you believe it or not.

And I don't think Verizon one is dropping last. It will come before iPhone5 at least. That's their strategy, stealing iPhone5 thunder by launching it ahead of it.

Samsung Galaxy S II Release Date and Price Verified | Mobile Bloom News

So I do not think that site is credible, read bolded part below.

"The Samsung Galaxy S2 4G AT&T smartphone finally has a hard and verifiable release date and retail price. At a retail price of between $199 and $249 on the AT&T 4G network, and with date of August 28, all those Galaxy and Galaxy S lovers out there who have been dying for this new phone and who have seen the unlocked versions going for between $700 and $900 overseas don

OK. Enough about hardware already. There are already too many devices. I want to know when Ice Cream Sandwich (the killer Android OS) is coming, and whether or not existing devices will be able to upgrade to it. (BTW: why isn't there a thread for that?)

Prolly because there is no chance of it being releases with ics

sorry...it wont happen.

Walking into best buy now... Will update if i am able to get more info

Ok.....went to best buy in person and dude couldnt find anything ...only sprint's samsung conquer which he said came out today. He said it is one of two things....someone was confused with the conquer or they know more than him (which is highly possible..he never really knows much when i go in)

I am going to dropby att in person tomorrow and ask there again too.

So guys...lets say this phone does get released on the 28th...(for this particular question, it doesn't really matter what date but bear with me).

How long is it normally before other retailers besides AT&T stores will also have this available?? I've never followed a phone like this, so I don't know what the normal routine is. I have several Target gift cards that need to be used towards something and I'm thinking this phone could be a good use lol.

It is ususlly same day or within a few days. Check ahead with the radi shack kiosk in your local target....the target giftcards dont always work...even though they are within target, i noticed they have a completely different point of sale system set up to ring up the phones.

I called 2 different stores and they both said they have no information on the Samsung Attain being released next sunday....

.... Called 3 places and they all don't have any information.

Mr. Ed, which store did you call?? I called 2 different stores and a kiosk at the mall here. How is it that one store will confirm it but no other stores will.. this is so frustrating

I live in a semi-rural area about 75 miles outside of Atlanta. I called two corporate AT&T stores as well as the local AT&T store which is not a corporate store. The persons I spoke with at each of the corporate stores were not even familiar with the Attain name, and said they had no information about a possible release. I spoke with the manager of my local store, and while he also was not familiar with the Attain name, he said that the district manager just happened to be in the store and he would ask him about it. The district manager was aware of the Attain, and "unofficially" confirmed that AT&T "might" be releasing the phone on Sunday the 28th. The store manager says he will give me a call when he gets more definite information. I guess we'll see.

I am in Dallas... make sure you are calling official Att stores...not simply authorized dealers.

I still think we are looking at a release 8/28-9-4

Keep in mind that when you call these people they want to sell you what they have haha...so getting a lackey who doesn't know anything, or a sales guy that wants to sell you an infuse is always going to be a chance...

Many of times I have to rub elbows, sweet talk someone to get real info...

The guy at ATT here was excited, and like I said, even offered to hold one for me. The girl at customer service found it in the computer with a release of next weekend..that was all she would tell me. (along with "we are not supposed to tell you this type of stuff" and encouraged me to call back and order it by phone or internet)

I have mentioned before how a soft release of the phone on 8/28 would benefit att and samsung...

otherwise its a big HEY LOOK>>>NEW PHONE....but you can't have it yet, sorry, wait two or three more weeks (kinda like waht they have done with the LG thrill :( )

Right! Like an iPhone....or iPad.

Time to recall the original PC (IBM killed itself by opening the market to everyone -- most of whom knocked themselves out in a few years, and took IBM with them; or , how about Beta vs VHS vid recorders, where the opposite happened. I don't claim to know where the Anroid model vs the Apple model will wind up, but I suspect the the "wild west" approach happening in the Anroid field now will favor Apple, not Anroid.

I don't "claim to" understand a word of that...

I've been anxiously awaiting the SGS2's release since it was announced, been entirely too long! Only other one I'd go for though would be the new Nexus series phone, but again, not really up for more waiting at this point.

Anyway, What store was that Mr. Ed?
I am also from Princeton, will you save me a spot in line? lol

Really? princeton tx????? wicked if so.

Ok....no new real info. I stopped by radio shack and an att authorized dealer today.. As well as a best buy mobile store inside the mall.

Att is the only one pointing to a "possibilty" of a release on the 28th.

I have a feeling we may indeed be looking at a sof att only release on the 28th and elsewhere on a later date.

Will update as I gather more.

Checked 2 local AT&T Corp stores and at 1 spoke with a manager .... they haven't got a clue. They both say they would know if it was coming out this weekend as they would have had training, signage and dummy phones by now.

Of course they could be lying because company policy prohibits divulging products before they are announced.

New to the forum. This is the best thread I found about the release of the Attain. I have been obsessed with the Attain ever since I drowned my iPhone 4 and decided I wanted to get the S2/Attain.

As it gets closer to the weekend, I will go to my local AT&T store (North San Diego) and see if they know anything about a 28th release date. If that doesn

I've had the GS2 for a few months now and its really not that great. Basically just an Infuse shrunk down a teeny bit. Colors are unrealistically saturated but it does make it pop, but kinda in a neon cheapy kinda way. I really hope they don't throw a tegra in there because the whole selling point of this phone is the exynos. Thats what really sets this phone apart from the competition. It makes navigating so much faster then all other android phones still google desperately needs to add hardware acceleration to their software as iOS and WP7 still outpace it in standard homescreen/launcher navigation even with much weaker processors. I'm ready for the next best thing give me Nexus Prime or iPH5!!

Ok "from what I gather"

...It has capacitave buttons at bottom like the Infuse and other Devices...

Hello Nachomommi,

Are you saying it has the typical 4 capacitive button layout, just like on the Captivate and Infuse? From the GS II photos I've seen, it always shows a 3 button layout that includes a physical "home" button in the center (like the I-phone), and then "back" and "menu" capacitive buttons to either side of the "home" button. The "search" button has been deleted. Personally, I prefer the 4 button arrangement, but am prepared to adapt to this new 3 button layout. Just curious if you could please clarify.

Regards,
remrem
