Android Tv Box Flexiview FV-1

Just updated to the latest firmware posted on this page.
It works well but i didnt get the newer market app...

The gui seems more smooth and the biggest change is that the SDCard gets finally mounted as nativ SD Card in /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard.
With this it is finally possible to move bigger apps on the card, which is quite nice :)

PS: btw the difference in size of the firmwares (latest and those before) are because angry birds is no longer included by default...

Really thanks for the update. It's not difficult to use Google to look for "new android market apk".:D from which I downloaded and manually installed on my GTab.

It gets even better with a PS3 Controller, Wiimote or iControlPad.
All those gamepads work with the unit without problems ;)

But now a question.
I changed my LCD Density, the os and apps are now more useable, but i hate that there is so much space between the app icons. is it possible to change this? i would love to fit more apps on a screen.

Any thoughts about my question?

I just had a bit free time and tried it ;)

And it works great :)
i just downloaded the first free Torrent client that showed up in the market with good reviews (tTorrent). Connected my 1TB ntfs formated USB HDD.
Opened up the App, set the download directory to /HDD/HDD1 (USB HDD path) and downloaded a torrent file of a ubuntu iso and it opren right away with tTorrent and started downloading (with arround 300Kbps).
Downloaded the whole iso in a arround 40 minutes and then connected the HDD to my PC and the complete iso was on the drive.

So to answer your question. Its possible and works very well. The torrent client i used worked also perfectly in the background so i could use the Box for other stuff aswell.

I also made some pictures, sorry for the crappy quality, i only had my ipod lying arround.
1. Shows tTorrent running in the background with Status information
2. Shows the tTorrent Main Window while download ubuntu
3. Shows GhostCommander, navigated to /HDD/HDD1 , you can see the the ubuntu iso file on the left (bottom)

Hi!

My first post here, glad to meet you!
I am interesting in this unit to and I want to ask a couple of questions:
First, how is performance in 1080p after the last firmware update? Has been improved?
Second, I have read all the post in this thread but I haven't understand: Does this unit has Upnp or DLNA? Is it posible to play music or movies from windows 7 PC with the "send to" function?

THere are Apps for that i believe and i have to repeat myself here, dont buy it for HD stuff. The unit does not output in 1080p!!! it outputs in 1024x600, which then gets upscaled to 1080p!
I compared video playback of the FV-1 with a true HD Media Player i have (WDTV) and you can really see the difference, espially with 1080p contenct, its not big with 720p but you notice it too.

Now on to the question if it play HD MKV movies, yes it does. Buy Dice Player of the market or get the trial. I could play almost all my H.264 MKVs (AC3 and DTS Audio). A few videos didnt work tho or just played in some strange slowmo mode.

So thats it...
Dont get this unit for HD Video Playback, it does not output in HD! If you happen to have a few 720p mkvs you might want to play its ok but dont be disappointed if the video doesnt work or if it wont look as sharp as it should be.

PS: i could upload a video of me trying several 720p/1080p movies if there is demand for that but please try to understand that this device wont do true HD.
Thanks!

Sonic-NKT thank you for your quick answer! It is very clear! I have already a popcorn hour A200, so I can live with that. But do you know anything about this UPnP or DLNA thing? Can I use this unit for playing music? I have a PC with a lot of classical music , in ape/cue and flac/cue format. Can this unit "see" my pc and play these kind of files?
Sorry for all these questions...

Wow..that's great. I intend to use it that way too, a 24-hour torrent downloader!

How do you do this?

There are several apps (mostly Emulators) that support icontrolpad or wiimote out of the box (like Snes9x EX for example)
To control every app or the OS you need a IME Driver, there are several apps for that available. Bluez-IME (for several bluetooth pads including icontrolpad or wiimote) Wiimote-Controller (wiimote) or Sixaxis-controller (PS3 Controller).
All those apps work fine on the box.

Havent tried it myself but i read in another forum that this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=cx.hoohol.silanoid
works well on the box and let you stream music and videos.
about the filetypes, i dont know. i dont have a upnp server running nor much music in that format ;)

i have a mac at home and use Airbubble to airplay my music on the device and use a itunes control app to select what i want to hear, it works very well :)

I think that's up to the launcher app. You could try different launchers, that may have a tighter icon spacing.
<edit>Haven't tried myself (still waiting for DX (or rather China Mail) to deliver my FV-1) but from the looks of it, with LauncherPro you can define the icon grid size. </edit>
<edit>ADWLauncher seems to be able to do that too - up to 8x8</edit>

currently im using 190, software is "LCD Density Changer" to try and after that i used Root File Manager to change the settings in the build.prop file (/System/) so i dont have to change it all the time after a hard reset.

im using 190 because i dont like the spacing between the apps which becomes bigger and bigger. If i find a good replacement launcher i would go even further but thats what im using right now.

Confirm with them whether the box comes with Android Market or not; and confirm about what remote control included in the box. For Chinese product, when they don't say something in the spec, it's usually not there :)

Google Oversetter
This boosts the RK2918 processor that seems to be faster and runs DDR3 ram.
Think I will give this a go.
Received my FV-1 3 days ago and love it. Fast and smooth. I am not happy with the "WII remote" tho. I am currently using it with a small 2,4ghz keyboard.

Hi...which keyboard you are using? Do you need to plug its own usb transceiver, or the box as is can connect to your keyboard right away?
