new update???? don't know what it is!

I thought I was an android geek, but my wife and I just received an update on our phones that took about 30 minutes. We both got it at the same time.

Here is what I have in the "about phone" menu

android version 2.3.3

Any thoughts on what this was?

It's the latest released update.

This is the 2nd Gingerbread update that is supposed to fix bugs that a lot of DX owners were having after the update to 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Prior build was .596, this one is. 602. My phone has worked well all along. But other DX owners have had a variety of issues that you'll see if you browse through any of the DX forums.

So with the release of the update, is it still possible to sbf back to froyo after taking it?

I just got this ota as well. Not seeing any differences at this point. If my random 'unable to send text' issue disappears that would be great.

I'm a noob and didn't know about that. But when I just tried it, I got the message "Check for update is not available at this time". Probably because I'm on Page Plus instead of Verizon.

Besides, after all of the bad things I've heard about the original OTA, I didn't really want it until it was fixed. For that matter, I'm leery of GB in general. Except for the ability to sort contacts by last name, I haven't really heard of any real benefits to it.

But I keep looking because I sure would like to be able to sort my contacts properly ...
