Virgin Mobile - Motorola Triumph No-Contract Mobile Phone - Black - MOTOROLA TRIUMPH

Anyway I owned a moto triumph and I had issues with it and was going to return it...But now on my 2nd triumph I am seeing similar problems i had with the original.

Along problems I have stated before

1)The phone freezes at boot screen..eventually it will load fully but i have to keep pulling the battery out to get it to finally load properly.

2) The Stock Launcher seems to crash quite a bit causing stock apps like messaging, gmail and email to freeze up.

3)Keyboard inside messaging app will come up but it will severely lag...I can type 3 words and it will Highlight a letter and freeze and 15 seconds later it will then type every letter i pressed.

4)Proximity Sensor is useless...I have to press the power button for that.

I will say one thing...the radio signal does not seem as severe as it did with my original triumph and my old optimus.

Personally, I think you are being WAY too picky, but that's just my opinion. Where exactly are you buying your phones (location, city, state)? I'm just not seeing the issues you have written about. The stuff I have seen is directly hardware-related (faulty 2gb SD card, which I replaced and problem solved ..... weak speaker).

Yes....I'm Being Picky when i complain about the keyboard freezing up repetitively when i try to type a text and the fact that stock apps crash which often times make them completely unusable(Can you tell I am being sarcastic as I type this?)

Picky would be nitpicking that the phone is only 4.1 and not 4.3 inches

Picky= Petty

THe complaints I listed above+ in the other thread= Legit reasons

And I have never said that MY ISSUES were widespread. A lot of Moto triumphs are triumphant for their users and have not see any problems that have been listed in this forums.

I've actually not had the issues YOU complained about(SD card and my speakers have seemed fine).

I brought this phone from Best Buy in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I even when on a vacation to the beach and I returned my phone to a completely different best buy in a different area code(Wilmington, NC) and I still got a crap phone.

I never exchange the device at the same store I buy stuff because for all i know there entire stock could be crap.

Grab System Monitor off the market and see what's eating RAM and CPU. Something's running that's causing problems.

The stock Android load is pretty good. If you're getting lag with it you've got some app that's misbehaving, and it's probably not one of the stock apps either.

I prefer LauncherPro on Android, but that's a personal preference thing.

picky?... he paid 3 bills for a phone that lists what it can do... so he's expecting to get a phone he can use and not have to pull a battery to get it going... you got a lemon bro.. sorry for that..
i hope you find one with 0 issues.. cause when ones that run great... run great

I have noticed a large percentage of the people complaining bought their devices at best buy. I bought mine from an online seller and mine has been fine. The audio quality when recording video was ehhh but that was software related. I changed teh camera app and its fine now. Im very happy with my purchase. for $25 a month this was one hell of a purchase. I feel for the people that have had all these issues but like I said almost everyone seems to be going to Best Buy

Hello, i have seen that your phone seems laggy with the keyboard. Do not go psycho on that. I have a Samsung Infuse that has 1.2 ghz stock. Most android phones on 2.2 seem to have the lag (including mine). When the 2.3 update comes it will get rid of this lag (for me its a matter of flashing, not waiting for Samsung haha). The other problems you have though, keep returning the phones until you get one that can actually boot up correctly.

thanks all. I'm going to exchange AGAIN one last time. I am going to be heading back up to Jersey this week to get ready for school so this time I am going to actually return to a completely different best buy in a different state and market.

I've been considering leaving VM altogether with the signal issues and what not and now with this phone being a dud(2 phones already) but i am willing to give it and VM another try before i leave them completely.

You know what they say....

3rd times a charm...

and also 3 strikes, you're out :)
so here is hoping for something better for my 3rd phone.
thanks guys

Most of the stuff you are complaining about seem to be software issues, and when it comes to software issues you can get pretty subjective. I am not saying that you're making stuff up, but how many times have we heard someone say "oh, after rebooting three times it finally installed". Software just does not decide on its own to install itself or fix itself, and people can get pretty used to the way they perceive software doing something on one device, and if it doesn't work that way on another device it must be a bug. Hardware issues, on the other hand, are as plain as day. A bad SD card is a bad SD card. I replaced the one that cam with the Triumph, and problems solved. The speaker DOES have a mechanical issue, and I can prove it. If you set the volume up to its maximum setting and insert/remove headphones as music is playing, the volume will go up and down. There is definitely an issue with electrical shorting occuring around the speaker area, as another poster on here indicated was talked about on another site (xda forums?)

In a way it can do just that, depending on what and how much is in RAM and ROM for that matter.

The repeated attempts, with success coming on the 3rd or 4th try, are common for that reason. The system, both OS and native boot loader, look for room to operate and run their scripts.. repeated attempts will sometimes behave a little like defragmenting and "optimizing" the memory and boot areas in some systems (not all systems and not all of the time), thus the success after a failed few first tries with no other changes.

I don't think you're being picky: I think you're rightfully expressing your opinions and concerns about a $300 investment. Nothing wrong with hashing it out IMO.

1, maybe 3, possibly 4: hate to say it, but it sounds like you got two bad ones in a row: among the common issues of this phone, I don't hear about those very frequently, nor have I experienced them myself.

2. Agreed - which is not to say that I particularly care, since I hate stock launcher. I use ADW EX since I can ditch the notification bar and dock as wanted. No lag whatsoever, so again, maybe you got two bum devices - I've heard a lot of that on this and other forums.

4. JIC: are you covering it with a screen protector? This sensor is really picky about that - I bought some cheap crappy screen protectors from Amazon with the notches for the sensor cut out, and have much better calibration than I did with the out of the box film.

3 again: is this happening on the stock sms? How about a replacement? Since I text more on chat apps more than the actual sms, maybe I haven't noticed, but I think the sms on this is much more responsive than the OV>

And the last - MUCH better signal with this sucker than I ever had with OV, GPS issues aside.
GL with whatever decision you make :)

That may be the case, but for the most part (just about always), whether there is enough ROM or RAM for the system to work with is not the issue. The problem usually lies in either (a) user error or (b) dependency issue. In my time spent in the IT field the most commonly used (and patently false) reason for being able to get a program to work is that it was "reinstalled". Again, that goes back to one of the two above-mentioned things that can cause programs to not work, regardless of OS or platform.

Melissa, I love your avatar with the doggies :)

Well i FINALLY did get a triumph that has good quality. I actually wound up loving it but the radio issue(delays in text) has gotten to the point where it pisses me off.

My brother and I were texting and he screenshot the text messages and sent it to me that showed that he did not get my text until 2 hours after i had already sent it.

So V< is not a good fit for me :(

I don't think you are picky at all, you paid for a top end phone and you didn't get one. All the issues you report, and many more are all over the web, including Motorola's own forums. The 30 day return policy is too short for this phone. Especially for someone like me who purchased it shortly after it was released, and so there were no user evaluations of it. I was switching from a "i" product, and I thought all the problems were me needing to buy new Bluetooth devices and getting used to Android system. I bought and waited for headsets to try. I gave the phone a fair try while I learned the Android system. By the time I knew it was the phone, I had gone over the 30 days.

Yeah go luancher and gosms are big memory hogs. I use launcher pro & the stock black themed mms I made. Works fine. Also the screen never claimed to be a 4.3 inch screen, it specifically says 4.1". Some of these phones do have hardware issues(i.e. gps is pretty bad on most, but mine works pretty good now, all the "GPS fixes" like the modded gps.conf make it worse, and my first one had a faulty auto focus on the camera) But alot of it could be software related. If you have alot of apps installed and alot of them run at the same time in the background and hog cpu and memory resources, lag is expected.

This phone may not be the best, but for 300$(265$ on ebay which is what I did) and no contract, I think its the best phone out there. Any good top of the line phone on a contract you'll pay upto 200$ and plus be locked in to a 2 year contract paying ungodly amounts of money.

Hands down this is the best deal for a fairly high end android phone for the price! I love my triumph! It certainly aint as bad as the intercept, which I paid 215$ for not too long after it came out, and it just flat out was horrible with problems!
