OTA update officially released 8/24/11...(MR-5 Update) Discussion thread

Does the update solve the random reset/power off/battery pull issue?

Still trying to see if it's a hardware or software issue.

2 MoPhos here, 1 works perfectly while the other has the random reset issue. No silent call issues on either.
It is a general consensus that random reboots will not be solved by the MR5 update and are likely a hardware issue. Should exchange that unit.

It is not a hardware specific problem. I have had 4 Photons (yup, 4) and every single one of them did it at some point or another. The one I have now seems to be the best of the bunch, but they all do it. (not saying everyone's will, but they all have the potential to do so)

Some posters on XDA forums claiming to be sprint/moto support techs are saying now that the OTA rollout will be Friday Aug 26th. Supposedly this will be the exact same MR5 update that was leaked there last week.

Another quote was " if you put your phone on performance mode then pull the battery and reboot it seems to help the call muting issue I guess the other modes had something to do with the problem".

Another poster claimed that removing the SIM card helped with the random reboots.

I class all three of these as rumors, but if it helps someone they are worth consideration. Cant see any harm in trying if you have the muting/reset problem.

Umm I wouldn't take the word of any Sprint tech rep. They're probably going off rumors also. Not saying there won't be one. just wouldn't count on their dates.

And still not sure what's actually going to be updated...an official announcement would be nice.

6 days no update = returned phone. Back to Evo.
