expunge messages on k-9?

I'm using the stock e-mail app (I've had no problem with it). I access my GMail, Yahoo and Comcast through it. I would like to know how to "expunge" deleted e-mails. When I go into the folders I can see all my deleted e-mails, but I can't seem to find a way to empty the whole folder. P.S. I also have my settings set to "delete from servor" when I delete, but it doesn't do that either. Anyone? Thanks

Well thanks for that little lesson. Really makes me want to help you out in your post.

The poster gave a vaild response for members where English is "not" their native language. Just because they are posting in English, does not mean they are fluent.

As far as emptying messages inside the "Deleted" folder, is it possible to "press and hold" the folder for an additional menu? Possibly empty the folder from there? Or empty from the folder/account's "Settings"?

Expunge, aka 'Delete permanently', aka 'Empty trash' ... you get the point. :)

I'm using the stock e-mail app

Then you are posting a question in the wrong thread, aren't you. Google "thread hijack". :D

So you're using the stock app, which you "had no problem with",
but it doesn't do what you're telling it to do.

That is CLASSIC! :D Thanks for the Monday morning chuckle. :)

I'm glad you got a chuckle. Now, if someone else out there, who is not just trying to build up thier "post count" cares to take a shot at my question I'd appreciate it. I simply asked how I can empty my "deleted" file without doing each one individually. As I stated, aside from that, the stock app is working perfectly for me. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Not really.

he gave the definition of the word, conjecture on what it means, and a request to help him in another thread. I would consider that valid only if the OP was asking what the definition of expunge was.

Maybe the responder took it that way, but I took it to mean "what the hell does this command do" since it seemingly doesn't do anything.

Fair enough, but you have to give an "A" for effort. I don't recall the "Expunge" as my Droids are long gone. Whether or not the messages get deleted when executing the "Expunge" command/feature, is a different story. All I remember was that the Beta version ~ v1.9x/v2.0 was not working properly.

Well, as the title of this thread indicates, we all use K-9, not the stock email program. In K-9, you would select menu, Batch operations, select all, delete checked. Oh, look I just boosted my thread count!! :D

Sorry to be an ass, but I'm bored.

Anyone have an answer for the original question?

Expunge is only for users who have setup their accounts using IMAP. If you are poping your mail completely disregard this option.

The IMAP protocol allows messages to be marked for deletion, a sort of limbo state where a message is still present in the folder but is slated to be deleted the next time the folder is expunged or compacted.

(stole the def from another site, but it is pretty clear so thanks nightfishing)
