PhoneMyPC is an app that enables you to access your home or office computer the same way you do with gotomypc but they don't have an app yet written for cell phones. You have to pay for it, I believe it is $9.99 (and NO, I am not part of the company and will not receive any monetary reward for posting this), but it is well-worth the money if you need to access another computer. I have used it several times with great results. It is easy to use, you see your computer and can interact with it as if you are there. The developers are very responsive and get back to you right away if you have any issues (I had an issue with the most recent upgrade because my computer is Vista64, but it fixed itself anyway, but they wanted to get involved and help me resolve it).
To me, it is the most valuable app I use. But I also love that this is a mini computer in my hand. Far better than carrying around an "overgrown iPhone!"
Just use a VNC application for this. On my parents' Mac, at their house, I have VNC turned on (you can download UltraVNC or WinVNC for your windows computer), and I have the port opened on the router for it, and a password behind it. My phone VNC's with no problem. Perfect picture and speed. And it's free.
My favorite things are too numerous. To make 3:
1) Financisto - keep track of my finances like NEVER before. Instead of writing it down or remembering later or checking my bank account, using Financisto, and Key.com mobile website banking, my finances are FINALLY tight
2) PDANet - I still don't even have internet at my new apartment. I just plug in my phone to the computer instead, to connect. Whenever I want. I even paid the $30 to register pdanet, as opposed to $60/month to time warner.
3) Show Off - this includes Google Sky, showing customizations I can do with Handcent SMS (iphone users drool), showing off my beautifully set up SenseUI Scenes/home screens, letting others play with my phone for hours on end with things like the Papi games, fingerpaint, web sites, etc.
This phone runs my life. It has LITERALLY made my life better in many ways, especially in organizing. I use ColorNote to keep To Do lists, as little widgets right on my home screen (I have several), managing business contacts and email right from my phone, servicing computers for work with VNC and PDANet and WiFi Analyzer and Network Discovery..... I could only move to a better/faster android phone. If the Nexus 1 would have SenseUI (without rooting it), I'd trade this in and wait for that in a second.
I think Eris is the best phone that Verizon offers right now, and it is my favorite humanly possession. Literally.
