I ended up reflashing with a fresh wipe. Its easier to wipe then to deal with frustrations from link2sd and any other incapatabilitys. Everything working good though. Got my hikers boot animation and sound ("*ding* so long, and thanks for all the fish")

I finally figured out how to get my battery to stop draining fast while my Optimus V is in standby. Usually it would lose about 20% battery overnight. That was unacceptable. haha

I downloaded an app called SetCPU, and set up a profile that underclocks the CPU to 122 MHz whenever the screen is off.

That helped, but the battery still drained pretty fast while it was in standby. I noticed that underclocking the CPU to 122 MHz while it's in standby makes the phone charge a lot faster.

I figured out that it was the 3G data connection that was killing the battery fast. I have Wi-Fi in my house, and that uses a lot less power than the 3G connection on the phone.

By default, Android puts the Wi-Fi connection to sleep while the display is off for a few minutes. This is a REALLY bad idea. I changed the Wi-Fi sleep policy to "Never", so Wi-Fi always stays connected. I just tested it last night, and my battery stayed at 100% without being plugged in! NICE.

To change the Wi-Fi sleep policy, go to Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> Wi-Fi settings --> (phone menu key) --> Advanced --> Wi-Fi sleep policy --> "Never".

I'm also thinking about buying an extended battery that's 3000 mAh (the stock battery is 1500 mAh).

A few people on that forum post claim the extended battery lasts for 3 to 6 days. That sounds great. With these settings I changed to fix the standby battery drain problem, I bet I could get the extended battery to last even longer.

This ROM has everything setcpu does built in and using set CPU can create problems with the two fighting to control the cpu. Go to setting>cyogen>performance>CPU. (sorry if I butchered the name)

Thanks. I didn't think about that.

I just checked. The cyanogenmod CPU settings doesn't have the ability to use profiles. There is no way to make the phone underclock down to 122 MHz while it's in standby. SetCPU has a lot more options.

I'll uninstall SetCPU for now, and see if it effects the battery life.

What's the best way to make this handle my cpu? Set the min to the lowest, max to the highest? And governor to what? Performance?

I just checked. The cyanogenmod CPU settings doesn't have the ability to use profiles. There is no way to make the phone underclock down to 122 MHz while it's in standby. SetCPU has a lot more options.

Set up your widget bar(go to menu/settings/Cyanogenmod settings/Interface/Notification power widget/widget buttons) with at least WiFi,Mobiledata,Toggle sync. Keep them turned off unless you need them.
Make sure you don't have any apps set to auto update(check in the my apps section on the market) When you go to bed(you don't need any of these unless your actually using the Market or the Web at the time) then you will get maybe 1% to 2% drop over the course of an 8 hour sleep.

The key to using the "V" is ,if your not using it,turn it off.
I can go a day and a half before I get below 20% with moderate use.

After testing a few different settings, the one's that worked the best for me where 787MHz Max-480MHz min.(The min. is where the CPU idle's when the screen is off)
If you set the min and max too far apart then you will end up using more battery trying to come back up to the max.I actually got the best battery off charge time(moderate usage=day and a half) and the best battery temps(19c when at the coolest part of the day,40c at the hottest part of the day) with 787MHZ-480MHz

Try 600MHz max-245MHz min first for a day, then try the other ^^ settings and see which works best for you

You will have to experiment with which scaling mode you like(interactive works for me). See which one gives you the least amount of initial lag(coming from screen off,etc.).

Remember: If your not using it turn it off(WiFi,Data,Sync,GPS,etc). This will save you the most amount of battery.
There are many apps out there that do pretty much the same thing,but without the control you get from just managing these settings yourself.

Don't go any higher on your min than 480 or you run the risk of over heating the CPU and battery. Keep raising the max CPU speed up one notch at a time until it randomly reboots. Then go back down two settings.

Took a leap of faith and rooted my phone. Decided to install this ROM and everything seemed to be going along fine until it rebooted. Now I am stuck with a glowing green android with a green ring around it and no movement. What the hell did I just do? Help a brother out. Thanks.

take your battery out, put it back and try booting again. Did you make a backup before installing this rom? Did you do a full reformat before installing? If not its to late to backup but you can reboot into recovery reformat and reflash the rom.

your first reboot can take a while as long as that green circle is rotating it didnt freeze up and should still be booting.

It does have CPU settings built in, but as far as I know there's no way to have different CPU settings in different profiles. At least I couldn't get them to stay. E.g. when I change from the default profile to night profile the CPU stuff stays the same and I have to change them when I switch back and forth

There were issues with the commits from CM7.1 in the 0823 build, camera and email issues mainly. So I reverted the affected apps to a previous build, all seems to work now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Tested and these are all working on my phone with full wipe/format:
(but you should be fine with wiping cache/dalvik)

-Email (was FCing on the 0823 build)
-GPS (was non-existant on a couple of previous builds)
-Camera (camera didn't work on 0823 build)
-Camcorder (camcorder didn't record audio on some previous builds)
-Market (one previous build had issues installing or being recognized properly)
-Bootsounds (most previous builds had borked bootsound files)

The only true issues I'm aware of currently are headphone button not working, and some volume level issues. Please let us know if you have other issues.

Actually now that I've checked, none of the apps that give me notifications in the status bar are working. I have to refresh each one to get new messages.

EDIT: And yes, I checked all the settings for syncing and such.

I had an issue with downloading a few apps from the market. Applied this fix and haven't had any problems since.

What are your opinions on this, and why isn't this fix included in the ROM?

Camcorder still doesn't record sound for me. Did a full wipe/format. And Gmail doesn't update on it's own. Had to do a refresh to get my latest emails. Not sure if this would be a problem with the latest build, though. Other than that, nice work.

Hadn't tested the Camcorder on previous builds, but, I too cannot record sound. My Gmail, however, updates just fine for me. Did you set your accounts to auto-sync your gmail? Since you did a clean wipe, that may be the issue...
