I know that quadrant scores don't count for everything, but is it normal to score 2100 running CM7 and score 1300 running Uber Bamf? Is sense really that much of a resource drain?

Guess I will have to decide if running netflix and nfl mobile are more important than speed, as I can't run them on CM7

I don't think sense has anything to do with it. Uber Bamf isn't overclocked; I believe that is the reason for the discrepancy. I get anywhere from 2100 to 2400 on BAMF 1.8.6 overclocked to 1.4Ghz, but I'm around the same 1300 to 1500 on Uber Bamf, which is stock 1Ghz.

Just by their nature Sense roms will perform worse on benchmarks than AOSP roms. The difference in the footprint size affects the performance. I do not recommend doing benchmarks usually unless you are going to account for all factors. You can change one thing like the governer and get way different results. Also they way the kernel handles task management causes some kernels to perform better on benchmarks than others (see this thread http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/385059-kernels-cfs-bfs.html)

Depending on how you use your phone you may have crappy real world use and great benchmarks, crappy benchmarks and great real world use, or the benchmarks could reflect real world use

I'm sure there's many factors. All I know is, as far as sense goes, I get basically the exact same scores for all the stock roms, Uber Bamf, and Synergy, which are all stock 1Ghz. The same regardless of froyo or GB. The only time I get scores into the 2000's is on 1.8.6, which is also the only one I have overclocked. I bet if I don't oc 1.8.6 it comes out the same as the rest. I also bet the CM7 the OP is on is oc'd. Of course, I've never run the test on an AOSP rom.

Do you notice a performace difference between the different roms? I would actually expect them to all score about the same, they are all built on the same base. Quadrant can help show how one phone compares to another. It is an identical test so you can use it to see how the thunderbolt compares to say the charge. I used to run benchmarks when I first loaded my rom, then after I overclocked. I realized it didn't really tell me much as I could get a few 100 difference on one rom compared to another but the lower scoring rom would perform better for me.

Yeah, I do notice a slight difference. On 1.8.6, the one I have overclocked, I notice a small difference in screen responsiveness; slightly better than the stock clocked roms. I usually test it by seeing how fast I can swipe down and up the notification bar. It is definitely faster than the other sense roms I have tried, and I can't make it lag at all like I can the others. I also try my best to do a bunch of stuff fast to make the phone lag. That's the main reason I'm still using it as my main rom over the GB roms. I hope when the official GB OTA comes out that then there will be a way to oc the GB sense roms that won't break anything.

I feel I need to flash some AOSP roms to compare(and I probably will pretty soon) , but so far bamf 1.8.6 has been the answer to all the reasons I rooted in the first place. Not sure what's so great about GB.

Yeah I would like widget resizing and scrollable widgets but gave it up for the eye candy. I used go before but the updates every other day finally got to me. I don't like ADW. LP+ doesn't support modded apks of the free app with the market key so I couldn't get resizeable with them. I used sweeterhome 2 for a long time but it was too annoying to set up all over again with each rom flash. Took me a long time to decide to actually buy SPB but once I did and got it running I regretted not buying it sooner. I don't know how it would do with sense as I have only run it on AOSP but I haven't had any issues with lag or the launcher force closing (except when I use the CM7 theme changer it will force close when I apply the new theme)
