I have a propensity to forecast into my future finances by multiple months and it looks like I won't have $299.99 sitting around doing nothing until the middle of December/end of December...

So, looks like my dear old OG Droid will have to survive another couple months even past the upgrade date 0.o

Ah well, maybe it is for the best eh?

Who else is running into this kind of an issue?

I can still remember the day I upgraded to my amazing Razr (what an experience) for $50, and THAT was pricey hahaha).

Can't wait for another 10 years to pass and it being $999.99 to upgrade your phone hahaha

I just got a new car, and searching for the cheapest insurance. I took too long and now will have a bigger bill from the insurance company I'm leaving. Just got a new job and whenever I start I might have the week in the hole to deal with.

My lease for my apt will be month-to-month starting in Nov and my rent will likely go up about $200. I'm not re-signing it...I plan on leaving by next year. Hopefully around tax time.

Then birthdays and holidays will keep me broke til next year basically. Halloween is in Oct, 11 y.o daughter birthday is in Nov, Thanksgiving is in Nov, kids mother birthday is in Dec, my b day is in Dec, 7 y.o. son b day is in Dec, Christmas is in Dec...lol

Rent, bills and birthdays will dictate me getting a new phone either in Oct-Dec or next year. Good thing is the new insurance is gonna be alot cheaper. And hopefully I can start the new job soon.

I actually made myself unable to purchase the Bionic on drop day on purpose!

I had $350 set aside in an envelope (if it's in my bank account I'll spend it) in my closet. Once I started hearing all the rumors of the Samsung Prime hitting this year, I took that money and had an awesome weekend with the wife.

I really don't want the Bionic, at least not on drop day. I want the darn Prime, but I won't wait for it if I have the cash lying around and see commercials and billboards for nothing but the Bionic. I'd rather have the money on October 1 (which I will), so that way I will be able to get the Prime if it does come out that month.

If the Prime doesn't release in October, I think coming on the forums here and listening to everyone's complaints about the Bionic will help me wait it out til a better phone comes out in November/December. If the forums are nothing but "Holy crap, I can't believe how awesome this is! I'm getting 24 hours of charge with 4G on 24/7!" Then I'll be comfortable settling for the Bionic.

I make a few hundred buck$ playing my guitar every weekend ... that's my "mad money". When the Bionic is available, it's mine.

I honestly don't think we'll ever see smart phones costing much more than $300 (upgrade charge). These phone do WAY more than a RAZR so they should cost more.

Forgot to mention I start going broke when back to school time comes...So from Aug til next year...I stay broke. If I can somehow find $299 in my couch I might be able to get a new phone this year.

My car broke down today. Might have the money might not. I know I didn't have it when I upgraded my x and just had VZW put the phone on my bill. That at least bought me 30 days and payment options lol.

This is the way I got my Droid X1. (retail price) I dont know if it was me being with Verizon for so long or just paying my bill on time for the most part over the years, but I think they let me take 2-3 months to finally pay it off. Might use this way again.

I'm in danger of hitting a financial crunch as well. I may not get paid at the end of August b/c somehow all of my courses that I had registered for disappeared, and I had to re-register on Saturday 20 Aug - a full 5 days after the first time. Which means that my PAN was rejected as I had no courses, and although I rectified it Sat, it may be too late to get my PAN into the system.

I'm already hurting as it is, waiting for the university to reimburse me for 2 different trips I made, as well as waiting on a paycheck from the job (to the tune of $1700, most of which I now have to pay ppl that I've been borrowing money from to make my truck payment and truck insurance payment....

I'm gonna one pissy lil beotch if I can't get this phone. For the last 2 weeks or so my DROID will not download large files via WiFi - the WiFi abruptly cuts out in the middle of the DL. And, I've noticed since getting CM7 on here that the phone tends to overheat when charging, even if just sitting on the desk. So, my DROID seems to be getting pissy with me b/c I'm about to / want to replace it....

I'm def financially strapped, but I'll find a way to get the Bionic in my hands. But I also do have a need beyond a want for the Bionic. Being that I now sell phones at Costco, having the Bionic to show off would be an excellent selling point. While we would most likely have a live unit to showcase, it's not a guarantee. We have a total of 3 smartphones that are live units to show customers at our kiosk, so we're often pulling out our own phones to properly display to customers the potential an Android phone would give them. And my OG Droid which has been on life support for some time now just ain't cutting it.

Luckily, I do have a few options that'll help me. Firstly, I have a $180 Costco cash card for getting DirecTV there. I've been holding onto it in case I want to use it for the Bionic, but $180 worth of food on the table is a lot more reasonable.

Then there's the employee plan, where I can essentially create a business line for myself. I could pull my number out of my family plan, but as my plan is currently set up, it'd actually cost me more as I'm currently paying only $10 for unlimited data, and I wouldn't want to chance losing that. If the Bionic becomes Wireless Advocates "it" phone (which it will), I could get that for free. Thing is, it may not be offered immediately, and I really need a new phone now.

So yeah, I dunno. But one way or another, I'm getting that phone.

How do you have 10 bucks for unlimited data?

Mine is 30 bucks and i thought that was a good deal now that LTE is out.

In January, an email went out to certain people about a special offer Verizon was running. It was then posted online, and it was The_Chief that brought it to our attention here (can never thank you enough, buddy). It basically gave you $10 for unlimited data, but you had to add data on every line. I have two feature (dumb) phones on my plan that are locked into unlimited data, now, so I can start handing down my phone whenever I get a new one. My plan is now cheaper than when I was the only smart phone on the plan.

Yeah, I remember when that came up. I guess I was just too lazy to do anything about it  That or I love paying $170 each month for our family plan

Same here, wish I would of known about it. I only have 2 phones on my account (mine and the wife) ... could of saved $40 since we both have unlimited data  Our bill is ~$170-~$180 ... and thats AFTER the 15% military discount

You're welcome, DudeL. Just trying to earn my keep around here and help out where I can :)

I wish I had been paying attention in JAN....I could have save $30 on 3 lines b/c one has no data... and it would not be locked in to unlimited as well.

Next time send me a PM!!!! :p

Sorry you missed it, JG, but I can't send EVERYBODY a PM. That's why I posted it prominently in several forums. But if a deal like that rears it pretty head again, I'll do what I can to remember to message you. But with MY feeble mind, don't count on it

Depending on when you get the phone they can bill it to your account.. I dont have 300 just laying around but i do have 150 and a month to pay the other 150.. (75 a paycheck).. I bought the wife an iphone 4 (355 with tax) and they billed it to my account. I gave the lady 100 that day and had a month to pay off the rest..

I will have to do this with the Bionic if i want the phone...
