Help with installing a rom

Im doing all this to try to put the bugless beast rom on it geting freaked out now dont know what to do somebody please help:eek:

Sounds like you are trying to install using the update.zip file?

Do you have the latest (0.99.2b IIRC) SPRecovery file?

If so, you need to:

Boot into recovery
Go to install

Do NOT select "Chose ROM from SD Card".

Instead select "Allow update.zip installation"

Then select "Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)."

or if you want to do a Nandroid backup, the procedure is different.

Try the update.zip first.

Pete's file isn't a raw rom. It's an update file, or a nandroid backup.

Im trying to install the sholes rom i thought i had to do that before the bugless my phone is still in the recovery mode saying no tar archieve found i dont know what to do how to get out it any advice?

If you have rooted and installed the recovery console, you can install any rom you would like.

You wouldn't install the sholes rom then the bugless beauty.

If you are in the recovery console, re-boot your phone, and make sure you have the update.zip file downloaded from bugless beauty / beast. Then follow the instructions I provided above.

ok what do i need to do to get my phone out of the recovery i followed that guide all the way to that step its sitting in the recovery mode saying E: no tar archives found,, on pete rom which one do i need to install the update.zip or nandroid back up im confused but bare with me and help please

I'm assuming you want to keep your data, so use the update.zip

First of all, get out of recovery. Like I posted before, use the POWER button to back out of the install menu until you have the option to reboot the phone.

Go download Pete's update.zip, put it on the root of your sd card.

Then get back into recovery, select install, allow update.zip, then install update.zip (deprecated).

After it's finished, back out using POWER again, and reboot.

P.S. you should probably make a nandroid backup first. It's in the main menu of the recovery console. Just select simple nandroid backup.
