Someone stole my rebate card!!!!!

I know this probably doesn't belong in this forum, but I'm so mad. (I see others waiting for their rebates.) I waited 30 days since ship date of my rebate card for my Droid, to see where it disappeared off to. (like site says to) I called Verizon and was informed some jackass stole it out of my mailbox and spent it at a Target not too long after the ship date.:mad::mad::mad: So heads up everyone to those thieves looking in your mailboxes.

How I found out was the Verizon rebate rep told me the date and where it was spent and location. I couldn't believe it. I'm not making this up folks. Now I have to do a fraud claim and hopefully get my money back.

The point of this post was to vent really and for those of you still waiting for your rebate, it could be a chance it was stolen like mine. :( Sorry you guys think it's a joke.:(

This type of fraud occurs a lot during the holidays. Packages and important mail shouldn't be left unsigned for, etc.
This is good advice year `round, however the Verizon rebate card is mailed via regular USPS mail and has REBATE CARD ENCLOSED stamped in bold red letters on the lower right corner of the envelop. NOT discrete at all
Hopefullythe OP can get their $ back.

Unless they start requiring people to activate their rebate cards from the cell phone to which the rebate applies (similar to what credit card companies do), the envelope described above is an invitation to steal. And what is preventing people from using their cards, and then claiming that they never received them? (Not that I doubt the OP's claim)

I would think that they would require you to put in your last 4 of your social to activate or something!. The calling from your cell phone is a great idea! I help keep a close eye on the mailbox and someone stole it from underneath me. I'm very bummed. This was Thanksgiving weekend it happened according to Verizon. I waited the 30 days from the ship date to call like the website said, and that's why I found out so late. I understand how people could try to rip off Verizon by claiming they never got it, but I'm not one of those. They just need better security measures. It bugs me someone could just take it like that. Sheesh. :( I'm out $100.

My card was also stolen and was that of another person I work with. Appearently this is rampant. To get our rebate back we need to fill out and notarize fraud forms. What a pain... Verizon's failure to validate the card is simple inexcusable. They might as well put a hundred dollar bill in the envelope. To say I am unhappy with Verizon would be an understatement!

Yes, dumbest idea ever.

Just send me a check with MY NAME on it.

Because Verizon cares about "saving" money because it costs less to get this visa debit card, then to print a check.
i agree. just send me a check, dammit. the rebate cards are annoying. i believe the idea behind the card is the same as that of gift cards. a certain percentage of ppl will end up forgetting about using the card, or only use some of the funds on it, etc. and while the card is sitting in your wallet, the money is sitting in verizon's bank account.

100% correct.

Only reason to give a rebate and just not a discount: count on a certain percentage of people not doing the rebate.

Only reason to send the gift card rather than the check: people won't use it or will use less than 100% of value.

Bastards.

I had my rebate stolen by my my former roommate when I ordered my LG Dare last January. These debit cards just are not a secure way of doing rebates.

That is why I ordered my Droid from Verizon's website, The rebate is taken off instantly, no paperwork to fill out or having to wait for the rebate to come in the mail, or like some of you, have to worry about someone stealing it.

Got my rebate card in the mail but when I went to use it it had a balance of .05 cents :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Went to the rebate card site and there was a charge for $99.95 to a Korean Restaurant in Los Angeles ! Not only do I not like Korean food (no offense) but I live in Virginia.
Had to file an affidavit with Citi who the card is issued through now I have to wait up to 90 days more to get my money. This really sucks !!!
