Help Contacts question

very stupid question from someone who isnt tehcnical at all... how do i back up my contacts from my htc desire? also, is there a way of viewing and transferring my text messages onto my pc (i remember being able to do this a few years ago with a samsung handset)?

A simple way to backup contacts would be to sign in to your gmail account with the phone and sync contacts. This will make a backup of your contacts in the cloud, as part of your Gmail account.
Another way to backup them, is to go to Contacts in the phone and select Export to SD card.

There are a few apps available to enable text messages in PC: DeskSMS, Remote Web Desktop, MyPhoneExplorer, etc.
