Root Gummy 2.0 with IMoseyON 13.6 IS HERE

I'm a complete n00b here so I'm sorry if I'm going to ask questions that's already been answered.

I'm still stock on my phone, stock EE4. No root, no nothing. How would I go about flashing this ROM to my phone? Let's assume that I need step-by-step directions because yeah... I'm going to need them.

Someone said that I'm going to need ODIN and something called CWR. Where do I download ODIN from? Does it depend upon the version of ODIN? Where do you get Clockwork Recovery from? Again, does it depend upon the version of CWR?

Can you still use different launchers on this MOD? I like GoLauncherEX myself, it's probably the closest I can think of when it comes to looking like TouchWiz without being a complete piece of sh*t like TouchWiz.

Also... MD5 checksums. Can anyone post the MD5 checksums for these files I need to download so that I can make sure I get good downloads?

And how would I go about updating the phone once Gingerbread officially comes out? Will GummyCharged be Gingerbread when that happens? Also, how would you go back to Stock Firmware after all of this if say you need to do a warranty hardware swap?

CWM- Clockwork Mod Recovery- included with your first rooted kernel. The devs have been kind enough to add it in, so when you flash your first rom, you get the recovery for free You should download AND PAY FOR (trust me, well worth the purchase price) Titanium Backup from the android market. It will be quite useful in your venture into ROMming.

Yes, you can use go launcher. 99.9% of market apps are still functional on rooted handsets, and some require your device to be rooted too.

And who cares how to go back to stock? LOL once you get a nice smooth rom running on your phone, you wont want to go back to stock, ever- but for the sake of answering the question, there is another great thread at xda that gives you a step-by-step on how to restore to stock. It works, I used it myself. [HOW-TO]Fix your phone - xda-developers

And as a side note, yet one that bears repeating- do NOT use the backup function in CWM. It will put you in a bootloop that will likely soft-brick you, and require a fresh flash to get out of. Koush is more than aware of this yet as far as I know has yet to come up with a workaround (but its been well over a week since I trolled xda pretty hard, been a busy week at work.) If you absolutely must make a backup, use Titanium.

Kejar posted earlier today that he has fixed the issue with CWM. He said you now can use any version. If you want to upgraded to 4.0.1.4 CWM with the restore/backup fix you now can without running into problems with the gummytoolbox

not necessarily obsolete, but it doesnt work on the droid charge. It will freeze and cause loop needing a new flash.

I never thought I'd ever root and ROM my phone but here I am with GummyCharged and I have to say that this ROM blows the stock ROM out of the water. It seriously kicks ass!

How's the battery life with 2.0? I ran 1.8 for a while and the battery life was awful. Even after freezing uneeded apps in Titanium and dimming the screen, I'd still loose ~5% and hour just idle and I could watch the battery drop actually using the phone.

Not sure if any rogue apps were running in the background draining things. 4G coverage is great in Houston. Matter of fact, 4G is less spotty here than 3G is. But I did try turning off the 4G to no avail. I ran all the same apps as I did stock except in Gummy I was rooted so I was able to use Titanium Backup to freeze the apps I didn't use (such as the launcher since I use Go Launcher or the stock Gallery since I use Quickpic) which I did. I flashed the Gummy+PB&J+CWM through Odin and everything worked great! Just had a battery that drained way quicker than it did stock. I reflashed the phone through CWM with Humble, loaded my apps and basically set the phone up the same way it was with Gummy and my battery life is vast improved. I can't explain it! It seems, though, based on the other thread here that I'm not alone with Gummy draining the battery.

Just curious if 2.0 is improved in this area since I'd like to run a rom that isn't bootlegged from other roms (found that out today, a week after flashing Humble).

Yes, but make sure you wipe data/factory reset & wipe caches while in CWM before flashing Gummy 2.0.

(so do a backup first!)

During the backup process if you use it your phone will freeze and cause you to HAVE to pull the batter, upon boot up you will enter bootloop.

Newest version of CWM corrected the problem with backup/restore.

Also, there is an app on the market to make a backup you can flash via Odin

I know some of you guys were concerned with Battery use on this ROM... should put those fears to rest. Again, Im on Gummy 2.0 w/imoseyon 13.6 and EP1Q radio

UPDATE:
As I have reported before SetCPU would always make my phone reboot regardless of profiles on or off and of voltage settings. Setcpu now seems to be working with the ROM and Kernel setup, no reboots as of yet (day and a half). Settings Smartass and -50 across the board.

You really just shouldn't flash through ROM manager or use it as a backup/restore. I assume downloading ROMs and such wouldn't be an issue, but if you want to flash, boot into recovery.
Does ROM manager even support the charge? I haven't used it since my dinc.

Gummy2 is certainly a well built and awesome ROM! I am well pleased!

The only thing Gummy 2.0 includes besides the ROM is the imoseyon 13.6 Kernel

EP1Q is a diff radio used by other newer devices. You need to flash it via odin.

To tell if you are running it check under base band the last 3 digits will read EE4, once you flash EP1Q its going to read "EP1" they dropped the Q for some reason.

I must say, since switching to ep1q my speeds are faster and my
phone does less searching and stays on 4G a lot more.

Also Humble uses gummycharged as a base, technically shouldnt be any better or worse in battery life.

Another thing I have noticed with Gummy2 is it seems to be much better at memory management than Humble was. If I started out on a fresh reboot, I'd have about 150mb of free RAM in Humble (I also froze a lot of apps with Titanium). But by the end of the day, I would only have around 50mb with the same apps running! Even if I killed processes in the task manager and using Go Launcher's built in app killer, I would never get above 80mb or so free. I jever could identify the runaway process either. My only recorse was a reboot. Then I'd get my RAM back.

With Gummy2 however, my free ram stays above 100mb all day all the time no matter what's running! I use the same apps and setup in Gummy2 as I did Humble but Gummy2 is just superior (and not stolen ).

Gummy2 really is a well designed and implemented ROM. I am pleased indeed! Kudos to Team Gummy!
