Here's my concern. Up till now, the model number rumored to be associated with the nexus prime is : GT-I9250.

Now, they're saying the potential droid prime will be: SCH-i515

Totally different model numbers. So are these totally different phones with different specs, or is "sch-" just a verizon model numbering scheme?

Joe

SCH is a Samsung specific model number.

GT-I is model number scheme for global version. SCH is just for samsung phones on Verizon, which is ususally CDMA variation of GT-I one.

.....

It doesn't take much to speculate that the next Verizon Samsung phone would be the SCH-i515, so that doesn't really prove anything.

I'm inclined to lean towards BGR reports on the Prime. They were the first ones (in another Exclusive, probably by the same sources as the latest Exclusive) to report that Samsung was making the first ICS phone and that it would be dubbed the Prime. ICS has been long-rumored to be released in October. It all makes sense.

Google's first Ice Cream Sandwich phone to be manufactured by Samsung, possibly dubbed 'Nexus Prime'

They also leaked in an Exclusive some of the specs that have been leaked by the Korean Times.

So yeah, I think they have a good amount of credibility.

Nice find, thanks. I really don't care in the least if this is actually a Google Nexus phone or not. What it appears to be is the same Prime that's been leaked to BGR since June, meaning that the specs are the same. (LTE, 1.5GHz dual core, 1 GB RAM, 4.5" Super AMOLED HD screen, and ICS.)

If the Nexus 3 comes out in December, I can't imagine it will be any better than this, except for maybe a thinner 4G chipset. And, if Nexus 3 comes out later in the year, it probably won't be a Verizon phone, just like it hasn't been the last 2 times.

If all we get is this Prime, I think that's plenty.

I don't think this will be Binged no matter it's Droid or Nexus. No phone ever got Binged with such name. I don't care for name as long as it comes to verizon with rumored spec list.

The discussion about Bing was a joke to an earlier post I wrote, with a mock discussion between Verizon and Google about a Nexus Phone on Verizon. I think we can all agree no Droid or Nexus phone will ever be Binged.

Back then, the rumor was lower megapixel rating (5 was mentioned), but a phenomenal sensor and excellent low-light performance. I personally think it'd be great if they stuck to 5MP with unbeaten picture quality.

Muuuuuch more useful than more megapixels, which just get thrown away when cropping photos to any practical size.

I've seen some people saying it won't be LTE, and I personally think they're out of their minds.

Agreed, that would be absurd.

Only on the Droid moniker.

P3Droid

THE PRIME IS NOT, IS NOT, A droid branded phone. Nexus devices have never been branded as such. What I saw does not mention Droid anywere in the naming. ..Samsung legal don't hurt me, I'm trying to help.

More recently, he said October is BS.

Not to be a prick or anything, but there's an awful lot of "[carrier|manufacturer] has never done X before, so we know they won't be doing X in the future" which doesn't really hold. The industry has had its share of seismic shifts lately (Google/Motorola/HP), so it won't be too surprising if some corporate strategies change to accommodate.

Verizon specific..

Fascinate is SCH-i500.
Charge is SCH-i510..

It doesn't take much to speculate that the next Verizon Samsung phone would be the SCH-i515, so that doesn't really prove anything.

Not just Verizon. i own a Cricket store and our Samsungs are SCH as well so are Sprint's. SCH is the "pre fix" for CDMA Samsung phones as mentioned earlier.

I do hope you know that stuff you were "pricking" to was P3Droid's tweet. I agree with you.

Just so we're clear. P3Droid was pricked, not me, right? ;)

It won't be exclusive to Verizon. It's either a completely different phone or bad news when it comes to rumors. They can't & won't rebrand a Nexus. Just wait until it becomes more concrete. Nexus 3 on multiple carriers

It won't technically be a Nexus if it's really a DROID Prime, but like mentioned earlier, OG Droid was the first with Eclair, so another Droid could be the first with Ice Cream Sandwich. Google has only debuted new software on 2 devices so far, right?

They didn't put out some Nexus tablet, they debuted Honeycomb on the Xoom. So I don't really put a lot of stock in the "Is it a Droid or isn't it" spiel.

The rumors, since June, have been that a "Prime" device was going to be made by Samsung, to be released alongside ICS, in October. BGR has had a few exclusives on this line of reasoning that have panned out. Until proven otherwise, I'll believe BGR, no matter what P3Droid says.
