Best Launcher for DX (Including Free Ones)

Fingers crossed that Go and Zeam will add backups to their apps, because that's the only thing that's keeping me with LPP haha.

If I recall, Go now has backups as of the latest update.

I bought LPP within a day of getting my X (thanks to this site) and just recently decided to roam around and check out the alternatives. I like both Go and ADW EX, but each has some things that lack from the other.

With Go, I like the App Drawer quite a bit - three function tabs (all apps, recent apps, running apps), folder creation, sorting options) - but miss the transitions and stability of ADW EX. I also notice that Go occasionally has to reload itself and I have to wait while it puts everything back in place. Go's page control (add/remove page, go to page) is amazing and needs to be the standard other apps build on.

ADW's transitions are beautiful and I love the endless App Tray. The widget size controls are very well done and useful. The App Drawer lets you create secondary and tertiary app spaces, but you always start at the original. What I'd love to see with ADW EX (besides Go Launcher's page addition/move system) are per-icon tray gestures. In LPP and Go I would swipe up from my phone to launch Vlingo Dialer, up from my browser to open my bookmarks, etc; that's not possible on ADW EX.

I can't wait to see what LPP 2 brings to the table when it is released. "The Launcher Wars" are going to be a great time for all and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I use LPP and also have ADW, installed by Apex. I decided try ADW (via Home Switcher) and it behaved politely, but once I tried Go, I couldn't go back to LPP. Every time I switched back and rebooted to unload it, it kept coming back so I uninstalled it. It'll be a cold day before I try it again. (It's -2

As others have mentioned, as soon as I got my DX, I got LPP. After the first Gingerbread update, LPP constantly force closed on me multiple times a day. After finally having enough, and waiting over 7 months for a rewrite that never came, I went with GoLauncher. Love it. Lots of transitions, cool app drawer, screen management, etc. As others said, seriously missed the LPP widgets... Until, that is, I found Android Pro Widgets. Aside from their currently limited theme selection, they are almost identical to LPP's widgets. They actually have MORE customization than LPP! GoLauncher is fee, APW is $2, so it's basically like buying another launcher. I can't be happier!

Ive been a LPP user for over a year. Recently I felt like a change so I bought ADW and gave it an honest try. Unless I'm missing some critical settings, it is a lot less smooth than LPP. That was quite a surprise because so many people said they were about the same.

I'm afraid LPP has nearly been abandoned. Fede was supposed to completely rewrite LPP but that's been going on for almost a year with no visible results. When I found he was writing a media player I knew LPP was "as is" with no rewrite. It still works fine so I shouldn't be complaining.

I think I'll give Go a spin and see how that compares.
