How many apps have you bought?

How many apps have you bought?

Here's my list:

1. aLogcat
2. Andlytics
3. BattMonX (LOL, my own app...had to test it out ;))
4. IP Cam Viewer Pro
5. SMS Popup
6. Titantium Backup
7. BlueMuze

I used to be a "free only" guy since there's so many free versions of apps (including almost all of the above). But once I started developing and people started asking to be able to donate or purchase my apps, I realized I really needed to give back to the folks whose apps I really used on a regular basis or depended on.

Just my two cents ;).

Cheers!

I have over 10.

I don't have problems paying for apps that are useful.

Angry Birds
Angry Birds Seasons
Angry Birds Rio (actually, Amazon Free App of Day, but whould have bought anyway)
Launcher Pro Plus
Beautiful Widgets
Bejewed2
Droid X bootstrap
Droid 2 bootstrap
PowerAmp
Quick Clock
Rom Manger
TBH app
Android Overclock

There's probably a few others that I haven't thought of, but that's just a quick list. I'll certainly support vendors who make quality work.

A whole two cents? Those devs will be able to retire soon. ;)

The Oatmeal sort of captured my thinking about purchasing apps. Except I drag out any and all purchases I make.
theoatmeal.com/blog/apps

I'm always worried about somehow losing the right to use the app and having to buy again. I haven't really investigated what sort of records are kept by the stores.

250+ Solitaire Collection
, now that's an app I'd buy if it weren't free.

+1 I voted for 6-10, but now that I've counted, it's more than 10...
Android Overclock
Beautiful Widgets
CircleLauncher
Droid X Recovery
Folder Organizer
WidgetLocker
WeatherBug Elite
Titanium Backup
Slacker
Root Explorer
DivePlanner Pro
Team Black Hat

The sad thing is that I don't even use more than half of them any more.

LOL, qetuop...that comic was hilarious ("its funny, 'cause its true", eh?).

Like you and theoatmeal.com imply--its kind of perspective based on what value you believe you are receiving for the price you are paying or at least what you've come to expect to be charged for things.

I still think free apps are great...but I know I've got more future app purchases pending as I come to appreciate the value I've received for using each app.

Cheers!

Actually going through the app...it's missing a good half dozen apps I've bought, lol. So I have bought over 20 apps.

That does not reflect the $$ I've donated to individual developers for their apps :) Though this is just chump change. I came onto the Android Wave when the Android Pledge was really big. That link was the revival of the pledge. I am very stringent when it comes to buying apps and I only buy an app when I find that THAT app is the only app I want to use for that type of app. I have about two dozen more apps that I use regularly and is on my 'to purchase/donate' to the dev, lol.

I find that there are a few apps worth paying for that I have bought. A number of free apps are adequate for my needs. A number of free apps I use are ad suppported. A number of free apps I have downloaded I would not pay for. It's not that they are poor by any means. It's just that some I download out of curiosity such as a number of games and I would not pay for because I'm just not a big gamer. I could easily do without those apps. HTC Sense has a number of apps/widgets that come with my phone that I like better than anything on the market.

There is one app that I want and will be willing to pay for. It would be an app that allows me to calibrate the auto-brightness feature on my phone. I was told by a developer that this is impossible to do on Android.

I really coulda swore it was more than this (I'm probably missing some), but according to my market account, see below. I also have a lot of free apps, including free+adds.

HD Widgets - $0.99
Imperio remote desktop - $1.99
Titanium backup pro - $6.88
Circle Launcher - $1.00
ACS Updater (Donate) - $1.00
Superuser Elite - $1.00
XDA premium - $0.99
Widgetlocker - $1.99
Fruit Ninja - $1.23
GOTO lockscreen - $1.49
Icon pack (Droidicon) - $3.99
Launcher Pro Plus - $3.49
iSyncr - $2.99
Swiftkey X (Phone) - $3.99
Shazam Encore - $2.99
OTTER - $3.99
Beautiful Widgets - $1.49
Tapatalk forum app - $2.99

Total paid apps: 18
Total cost: $44.48

I fully support developers and I don't mind paying for a decent application. Afterall they have to get something out of it for their time if we want them to continue to make more apps for us.

And for those of you that say you'll never consider paying for an app. How would you feel if you put in many hours creating an app, countless hours supporting and updating it for bug fixes and more features, then to not have any benefit for the time you put in? We need to try to put ourselves in the developers shoes... no one is forcing you to buy an app, but if a developer spends a lot of time creating a good app that saves you time, and makes your life easier, whats the harm in a couple of bucks? Just something to think about, you're obviously welcome to your opinion and to do whatever you wish. I know I blow the ~$50 I spent on the above apps on stupid stuff like $5+ cups of coffee at Starbucks and other random stuff that I don't need :)

I don't think it's possible to count how many paid apps I have bought over the past two years. But I know it's at least 30+ so here's the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Beautiful Widgets
Age Of Zombies
Guerilla Bob
Dungeon Hunter 2
Modern Combat 1 and 2
NOVA 1 and 2
Muffin Knight
Alarm Clock Xtreme
Burn The Rope+
Captain America
Angry Birds - All ad free versions
Rom Manager
XDA Premium
Doodle God
Chuzzle
Root Explorer
Titanium Backup
My Backup Pro
Nano Panda
PlayerPro
UberMusic
Roboto
Samurai II
Seek Droid
Swiftkey and Swiftkey X
They Need To Be Fed
LauncherPro Plus
ADW EX
Weatherbug Elite
Widgetlocker

And so many more, that's just all I can think of. I wish more users would start supporting devs more. As soon as that starts happening the closer we get to having higher quality apps that iOS gets and Android doesn't.
