So I just recently bought a Galaxy Prevail from boost running the Android 2.2.2 version. I've literally tried every possible way to root my phone. One click root wont work for me. I get to the step where I'm suppose to use the cmd prompt to "adb reboot" it wont recongize the command. Then i managed to get the .bat file to run and it went through

This is the point where my phone just won't reboot. I tried it at my friends house and managed to get to point where is says something along the lines of "Your phone should be rooted" blah blah but there wasn't a superuser app in my phone. I'm running windows 7 64 bit and I did change the compatibility to service pack 3. The SD card is also unmounted. If someone can please help it would be highly appreciated. I've literally spent about 12 hours trying everything.

Mine did the same thing. I tried every which way I could and I tried different computers, ports, cables, etc but it would not take. I had to use odin and used the rooted-hroark kernal odin and now running great.:D I would try that. Just keep in mind you will have to manually backup contacts, sms messages, etc if you want or need to keep those. I wanted to root the normal way so that I could make a nandroid backup of my phone before doing to many mods but oh well. :(

Yea I got it rooted via Odin e14. Sigh finally after so many failed attempts. Anyway I'd like to thank you guys for even responding appreciate your inputs. Now what mods do you guys recommend?

All of them... no seriously...

look into

1. Shabby Mod .9 ROM
2. ClockWorkMod (if you havent used the ee14 version with kernel and clockwork)
3. a custom kernel ether ShabbyKernel or Hroark Kernel (personally i am on
hroark because of ext4 support on sd card) which leads me to #4
4. Link2Sd
5. A theme of your choosing...

I am having the same problem trying to root my previal! I need a hotspot fast to work! My phone reboots & kms says that I should have root - but no root. I have no idea what I am doing. Can someone walk me thru this? I will donate asap if I can get it to work. Have tried 15+ times. all the commands above the 'you should have root' says failed?

I've been scouring the internet for these exact two things, but ive come up dry. :0 Is there any possibility someone could link me to the correct ones? Im really weary of messing with the wrong one.

This is what it keeps telling me what did i do wrong i dont get it please help

I got the same message about 17 times before mine finally went through, but persistence payed off. If you can't get it with oneclick then just use the Odin EE14 with Hroarkernel and CWM.

Yea, ha for some reason it wasn't showing up at all in the search. So, the real question is, how do I root my phone using these tools? do I flash the Odin kernal first? or is that basically rooting it? I don't know, and I don't want to follow a trail going nowhere because I'm doing something wrong.

if you follow the instructions in the odin thread and use one of the rooted file sets you will be all set with root

hi, very new to rooting and such and I just wanted to ask.. If you do the Odin way to root your prevail does it erase all the info on your phone? Such as MISD, MEID? In other words do I have to reactivate the phone if I use ODIN?

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Make sure that you have all your contact info synced with your Google account and they will re-appear once you sign back in . :D
