Help X10a Version 2.3.3 update problems!

Hi Gang,

I'm a new user, I've had my x10a from Rogers for about 8 months, and this morning I up dated to 2.3.3 using the Sony PC companion.

So anyway I was super excited because I heard a bunch of great things about the 2.3 up date. Well now My good phone as turned to garbage, I when ever I try to load any kind of media on my phone it just locks up and crashes, same as when I try downloading a new app from the market or even changing a ring tone.

The message that keeps popping up reads as follows:

Sorry!
The process
android.process.media has stopped working
please try again

And this message is now randomly popping up not matter what I'm trying to do..

I know the phone can see the SD it tells me how much room is free card but it can't pull any information.

Can I go back to 2.1?

What can I do to save my phone?

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks.

Looks like something didn't upgrade...something to do with the media player.

Did you remove any applications that have to do with the media player or install some special copy of 2.3?

When you had 2.1 did you have a rooted copy or remove any of the media software?

I assume you did not follow the installation instructions for 2.3. Did you back everything up (backup contacts and copy everything you want off the SD card onto your computer) then formatted the SDcard, then did the upgrade to 2.3?

Format the SD card from the Settings menu. Then update.

Did the upgrade a few minutes ago and had the exact same issue. Rogers seems to try to make the upgrade without loosing the user data and it is not working really well. for this case, just replug your phone to the computer and to a repair from pc companion (support zone --> phone software upgrade) this will wipe the user data but stop all the force closes that happens

I did follow the instructions and backed up my phone before the update, but after the new os was installed I lost the Backup app the phone had.

Any ways as above mentioned Rogers was trying to save the user data, but it does not work. So I did repair, and it wiped the phone out and reinstalled.

Works prefect now, I just lost all my data, and apps. Oh well phone works much better now.

But I lost my angry birds high score.

A few peeps on Rogers Community board, SE Canada FB page have posted this solution to try to end the force closing error:

i) go to settings:Applications:Manage Applications;
ii) select “All” on the top menu;
iii) Select “Media Discovery” and clear data;
iv) Select Media Storage and clear data;
v) turn off the phone and turn it on again (so that media from sd card is repopulated in the media library).

See I called both Rogers and S/E and both of them did not chime in with this ideal.

Frig I wish I saw this before I wiped my phone out.

Dam.

hi everyone want to know if really can upgrade xperia x10 2.1 to 2.3 gingerbread

2.3 has been out for the xperia for a while. Like 5 months...maybe more.

On your computer, go to the Sony website and download PC Companion for the x10.

Install and follow the instructions to update.

Hopefully your mobile provider allows you to update to 2.3.
