Hi all,

First time on here.
I have a new HTC Incredible S. It came with Android 2.3

I have downloaded some live wallpapers from the Net, but it can't figure out how to install them. The user manual offers no help.

They are in ZIP format (eg, Seagull's_View_Live_Wallpaper_v1.1.zip)
Am I supposed to unzip them first or will the phone do that when I find the right way to do it?

Thanks for any help ;)

Cheers
Craig

Welcome to AF!

Depending on where you got them from, most of the time you need to extract them. I would first check to see if there is a .apk file in the .zip file. If so extract it, and install it like any other app. If there is no .apk file inside the .zip change the extension of the wallpaper. For example change from Seagull's_View_Live_Wallpaper_v1.1.zip to Seagull's_View_Live_Wallpaper_v1.1.apk

Either one of those should work, after you have the .apk file put it on your SD card and open it with a file manager to install.

live wallpapers are very quirky .. some have funny issues .. about sleeping right. and can burn your battery fast.

there are plenty of LWP in the market and many are free.

why are you taking LWP from outside the android market? where you can not read reviews to see if there are any bugs.. or spywares.

of course it is your phone.. and you do as you please...

Yes, I have heard that they are memory hogs. I'll see how it goes.

Yes, that's a fair comment. I have had a quick look at android market and could only find static wallpapers. Your comment about viruses and such - yes, never thought about that. Thanks. I think I'll delete them and not install them.

Thanks for your help. But I think I'll delete them and use android market.
Cheers. ;)
