Battery life - After full charger (prior to use)

I had to have my photon replaced and when i received my new phone i let it charge fully before i turned it on. I noticed now that i have a full extra hour to use my phone before the battery craps out. I have had a few different smart phones but this is the first u have ever charged before using. Is getting more out of your battery typical from this or is this just a fluke? Whats your expirence with this topic?

I make it a habit to do that with any new phone I purchase. Even though Lithium-Ion batteries are designed, so that you shouldn't have to do this, I personally just feel better if I've conditioned the battery, prior to full use.

In fact, when I upgraded to the MoPho, the Best Buy Mobile guy was smart and kind enough to ask me if I needed him to set everything up or if I wanted to do that myself. Because of that, I told him that there's no need to check activation or anything. As long as you've activated on your end, I can take care of the rest once I've brought the phone home and fully charged the battery, prior to turning on.

For every phone upgrade I've done at Best Buy, each rep has had no problem just setting the activation using the serial numbers on the box and just giving the phone to me without checking activation. It has made for a great experience with battery life for all the phones I've purchased from there, including the phones on my secondary lines.
