Root [MOD] Carrier IQ Remover 3.2 Final (10/26/11)

This mod will remove Carrier IQ from your phone. It should improve speed, battery life and privacy

My ROM, themes and widget mod include this

This is for Shabbymod on Froyo ONLY
ClockWorkMod is required
Do a backup before flashing​

This will put you back to the stock android theme and remove any other mods that use the frameworks
If you flash a theme or mod that doesn't include this it will overwrite it and CIQ will either be on your phone again or you will bootloop
First boot may take up to 5 mins after flashing
Clear your dalvik cache and reboot after flashing this

Download:
CIQRemover3.2(for ShabbyMod 0.9)​

Installation:
1) Copy the zip to your sdcard
2) Boot into CWM and select install zip from sdcard
3) select choose zip from sdcard
4) select the mod
5) select Yes
6) After it is done installing Press back button
7) Select Reboot System Now

Damn, I am consistantly amazed at how much dev work is being done on this phone even thought the source cannot be recompiled properly. All you guys are amazing and I'm coming from the Captivate arena and they have a lot of really good devs over there. Please keep it up, My phone is flying thanks to everyone here.

I'll prob wait till someone incorporates this into a theme I like. I dont wanna go back to basic, lol.

are you talking about phone.apk or contacts? I didn't look through them

I removed the code for it in framework-res.apk/AndroidManifest.xml and that disabled it from starting then i deleted the carrieriq folder in framework.jar

Ill test this after more people test it. Considering phone/contacts apks havent been gone thru im a bit nervous. I have read in the past that carrier IQ hooks into both of those and they request it to be running.

Hroark's rom is jus a tweaked version of shabbymod 0.9

How will I know if it worked or not? Because when I look at my running services, I see that a service called IQ Agent Service is running. Is that what this mod is supposed to be getting rid of? If so, it didn't work for me.

You didn't flash anything else on your phone after you did the mod did you?

If the flash took correctly that service won't be running. Try flashing it again and see what happens

yeah, a theme would overwrite it.

my themes will include this next time i update them and ill also include it with my power widget mod when i update it so anybody that uses that as a base for their theme will have it
