Root Quadrant quest(ion)

Hey all. I have a question about Quadrant. I downloaded this app after hearing about it in an off topic thread and had a question. I'm running Cm7, Tiamat SBC, and V6 Supercharger (the latest on all.) I noticed on the info screen of Quadrant:

CPU:
ARMv7 Rev2 (v71)
Current: 1190.4
Max: 1267.2
Min: 128

I have a score of 1528. My question...is Quadrant's assertation that my Max is 1267.2Mhz based on the program and my individual OG Evo? Is it telling me I should be able to OC it up to that range (not that I plan too other than too see what kind of #'s I get) or is it just generalized. Yes I'm fairly new to the whole rooting process.

No question is stupid unless you don't ask it. My guess is that the reason you have gotten no responses is simply because no one has looked at your forum and been able to formulate an answer. I know that is my reasoning.

I will take a stab at an educated guess for you. It is my guess that the Kernel allows you to overclock to 1267.2, however this may or may not be stable enough to allow you to run your phone. It is also my guess that you are currently overclocking to 1190 and that is why the readout is giving you that information. Just like any computer just because you can overclock it to a certain point doesn't mean you should.

Again this is just a guess.

1267 is the max that the Evo's processor can be OC'ed. Someone may make a kernel to oc higher but it's not recommended. Most Evo's can oc to 1190 and still be stable be there are few that can go higher

Thanks for the responses, and sorry I jumped the gun in my second post. I get a bit excited when it comes to all this stuff. Like a kid in a candy store. Yes I did bump it up to 1190 myself a few days ago. Running great with zero heat or glitch issues. Might backup and try another notch.

You don't need to nandroid before bumping up, your phone will let you know if it can handle a higher mhz. But make sure you do NOT set the setcpu on a high frequency on boot or you will then get boot looped.

Being a benchmark, the program shouldn't use any type of cache should it? First runs are usually 1220'ish followed by increases up to around 1540 on the third run.

Problem solved. Set governor to performance a couple of days ago. Reverted to smartass and getting constistant 1570'ish.

Yes, some of the benchmarks will use cache so usually the first benchmark is probably the best indicator
