Root ClockworkMod Recovery Update Gone Bad

My EVO 4G with Rom Manger Premium v4.4.0.5 had Flash ClocworkMod Recovery 3.???? on it. I got a pop-up window stating there was an update to 5.0.1.0 which I allowed to update. Something has gone wrong. I can no longer update ROMs or boot to Recovery. All looks normal but everything comes to the HTC EVO white start page and stops. The only way out of this is to pull the battery. Once the battery is reinstalled the phone boots back into my current nightly, 08-26-11.

Thanks for any suggestions on how to correct this.

You're definitely going to want to go with a new recovery. I think RomManager has an option to flash an alternate recovery, which would be Amon_Ra 2.3 or something like that. You won't be able to load ROMs from an app like RomManager but you'll have something far more thorough. You can download Calkulin's Format All & Clear Temp along with VR Superwipe and flash those prior to flashing a new ROM for a deep clean.

Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

As with most if not all, rom manager is just too buggy to flash roms. And most will suggest using Amon Ra v2.3.

To solve your issue though,I would suggest flashing an alternate recovery first, then reflash ClockworkMod recovery and see if that helps

Clint,
Thanks for responding to my issue. Yes, the Rom Manager has the alternate recovery and an option to flash an older version of rom manager. I appreciate the suggestion for Amon_Ra 2.3. I will look into it. There is some fear factor moving away from Rom Manager. So far it has worked well for me. I

Andy,
Thank you for the welcome!! You had me doing the right move. I flashed to an older recovery and then reflashed the latest recovery again. This time it worked! I

Be careful what type of ROM or update you flash with the newer cwm recoveries. They only support the new script, they no longer support the amend script. (wait did I get this backward?) If you want to be able to flash both types you need cwm recovery 2.6.xx or Amon-ra 2.3.

your hurting yourself again granite.:D

you are right clockwork mod 3 and up only supports edify. while most things flashable like roms and superwipe uses a script called amend. right now there are three recoveries that support both scripts. they are clockwork mod 2.6, amon ra 2.3(i highly recommend this one) and TWRP(the new teamwin recovery, which is a pretty good recovery).
