I am having an issue with my droid 3 and being able to use data overseas. I unlocked my SIM just fine and am able to place phone calls and send text messages, but I went to get data put on my phone (I am using TIM here in Italy) and I got a message saying something about my data being blocked because my phone is foreign and has been turned off. My Italian is not very good, but that's essentially what the message says. Has anyone come across this issue? How did you guys make your Verizon phones work in Europe?

Mate I'm using an unlocked Driod 3 in Italy on TIM, no problems. Is it a post or prepaid sim? what apn settings are you using?

What are your settings under network? And do you have to have data roaming turned on? If so, how do you do that? My SIM card is a prepaid SIM, but I went into the store and had them activate it for data. It said it was activated, but I could never get it working, then a while later is when I got the message about it being foreign and my data was cancled, or something like that.

APN Settings:
APN - ibox.tim.it
MCC - 222
MNC - 01
Authentication type - PAP
APN protocol IPv4

You don't have to have data roaming turned on.

Mine's post pay, but I have had a prepaid Wind before and it took three days after activation before data was available.

If it's been longer than 3 days take the SIM back and ask for your money back and get a SIM from Wind.

I didnt have roaming on. When I go to APN's, there is nothing here? Is that because I'm not getting any data?

The messages i got from TIM were:

1) TIM x SMARTPHONE e' attiva! Il Costo e' 2 euro ogni 7gg. Per disatt. chiama il 119

2)Il blocco dati estero e' disattivato a seguito di sua richiesta o attivazione di una opzione internet. X riattivare invia BLOCCOPROTDATI OFF al 40916. Info tim.it

3)TIMxTUTTI: e' stato addebitato l'importo di 3 euro per la fruizione settimanale dell'opzione

Basically what i got out of that was:
1) your data is active and its 2 euro per week

2) your data is blocked because you have a foreign phone, then it tells me how to reactivate but I really can't understand it

Think you could help me out with the translation?

Anybody go to England yet with D3? What is best option for sim card? Use what came with D3, or are there cheaper prepaid options there? Concern is any prepaid options have a delay before operational, but using VZW for international roaming with an Android device has it$ own hazard$. The dollar signs are there on purpose.

Ciao,

I am having the same data problem with my Droid 3. I am using vodafone though. The woman at the cell shop did try to put in the APN settings, but didn't know those two numbers. But when I try to put in the numbers you provided, it wouldn't save the APN settings. There is a symbol to the left of the APN when I do manage to save it, it shows an open lock with a question mark in it.

Also, does it usually take 3 days once they activate it? I'll have to go back and check, then. I think she deactivated the promotion because it wasn't working immediately. Currently my settings are:
Name: vodafone
APN: mobile.vodafone.it
MCC: blank
MNC: blank (when I do type in values here, it doesn't save it. It just disappears, for both MCC/MNC)
Authentication type: PAP
APN Protocol: IPv4

Any suggestions?
