So I keep seeing people suggesting that you should wipe dalvik cache and cache . My questions are is it good to wipe dalvik cache and cache every so often even if I'm not having any issues? Or is it best just to leave it alone and only wipe dalvik cache and cache when having issues or when flashing a new ROM?

BEFORE flashing any rom you have to perform a wipe on the cache, dalvik cache, and data ( i do them 3x each ) then you have to flash the superwipe zip....After that you can flash the rom and reboot....

if you notice your phone is running fast and becomes kind of laggy or slows down, you can go into recovery and do a wipe of JUST the cache and dalvik cache and reboot.....it should pep ur phone back up....

also if you want to flash a kernel, you have to go into recovery and perform a wipe of the cache and dalvik cache as well....then flash the kernel and reboot...

It was explained to me before that it is kind of like deleting temporary internet files and cookies on a windows pc. It may have a minor effect or major one depending on what is in it. If you flash things like the rest of us addicts do, then you are cleaning it 5 or 6 times a week anyway. If not, I would do it once a week or so just to make sure your phone is at peek performance. I do those wipes on my wife's phone once a week. Just my opinion. :)

As far when doing a nandroid backup in amon ra, I read in the rooting sticky that it says "leave the first three checked then check wimax (you do not need to do this all the time.) just keep one nandroid backup with your wimax keys backed up on your computer. the rest of the time when doing nandroid backups, you can just backup the first three in amon ra. clockwork mod will backup wimax automatically"

So if i understand this correct in the initial backup with the first three checked, leave wimax checked and do a backup, then i can leave that on my pc as a fail safe and every other time after that just do a backup with the first three checked. Because i have been doing a backup with everything checked except cache and recovery.....Wrong??

i only backup the first three and then sd ext(i have my card partitioned) and that is it. i have like three nandroids on my computer that has wimax backed up. all the others are not necessary. it just makes the nandroid that much bigger and takes up more room on your card.

lol....
also with the superwipe zip, if i run that before a backup and then flash, lets says a kernal or new battery mod, etc., will that wipe away my data as far as how i have my homescreens setup and the apps i have d/led and my settings??

NONONONONO......DO NOT flash the superwipe zip before flashing a kernel or mod....if you flash the superwipe with a rom already on it and try to reboot, your phone is gonna do something whacky lol...you only flash superwipe when you want to flash a new rom....when you want to flash a kernel or mod, you only need to do a wipe (not superwipe) of the cache and dalvik cache...

I did superduperwipe (just superwipe actually) last night cuz my phone was being dumb, and it wouldnt boot then... i was friggin livid!!! Livid mostly because i was too stupid and forgetful that you only do it when installing a rom.... Ugh, well i guess it gave me an excuse to go back to cm7 LMAO!!! I already kinda miss "The Breed" actually... Never thought id say that
