My OG Droid, my beautiful powerful OG Droid, finally bit the dust, its power button decided that finally, it had enough...

Anyways, of course Verizon wants to charge me $99.99 to replace the damn phone so I may as well wait for the Bionic...

I may actually have to return my Kindle to pay for it, and rebuy the kindle around X-Mas time...

Gah!!!

Might work out pretty good for you in the long run if you think about it. You get the Bionic soon... then by Christmas time Amazon will likely have their new tablet out on the market. So you could have the best new tech on both ends... and being Christmas time, you might be able to find a good holiday deal on the tablet.

That is actually a very good point.

Although I will miss my Kindle... I have grown extremely fond of the little bastard...

While you might miss your kindle, just use the Kindle app on your brand spanking new Bionic until you get another kindle. I actually do all my reading on my Asus transformer with the Kindle app but used to use my DX before I had my transformer. Smaller screen but it's not that bad to read on once you get used to it.

If you do return your Kindle, be sure to take a look at the new Nook before repurchasing it. While we love our Kindle, the keyboard is a pos, and the Nook is really nice (and priced right too). Also, I haven't followed any development on it, but if it's rooted you may be able to sideload the Kindle app and save all your purchased books.

I use calibre to handle all of my books.

I like the Kindle with Special Offers, it is a great deal for a nice discount.

I will check out the nooks though, thanks!

My power button on my Droid went out too. Just set the screen timeout for 15 seconds, and press a button on the keyboard to get the screen back on ;) I'm forcing mine to last till the prime :D

No go, the button no longer responds so there isn't a way to power it back up...

In the end I think I am going for the Bionic, it seems like it is the best choice.

When the OG droid phone is dead, you just plug it in and the phone turns on.

Problem is the machine has been randomly restarting quite often lately...

In fact I imagine it will probably go out half way through the day, making it incredibly inefficient and non reliable (I use GPS at work for most of the day, and the risk that it will randomly power off and get lost is NOT an acceptable risk).

Nice app - but with all the other problems with the phone, it's probably best to just replace it with a brand spanking new Droid BIONIC! :D

Mine has a single issue (well, 2 really):

1) WiFi is dropping every 3-5 minutes.

2) Phone does not have enough RAM for all the apps I want to run (of course, that is my own damned fault seeing as I'm running CM7 with LPP, BW. Swype and GV...but still!)

my phone only has 1 problem:

1) It's an Eris

Try this it will let you change your camera button to power up your phone.

Power Button Broke - Want To Remap To Camera Button

If i can find the link for xda for the app i will post.

Found it. [App] ButtonRemapper - Beta v0.2.4 (New Galaxy S version added) - xda-developers

This worked PERFECTLY!!!

Thanks man!!!

I am still going to get the Bionic, due to all the other issues I have been having, but this will let me keep the Droid as a backup/Pandora player/etc at home.

Thanks again bud!!!
