So I was at my daughters today and her evo is not rooted. she just got the latest update wich udated the radios. With my evo and hers at the same location she had 4G and 3 bars of reception. I had 1 bar fading out to none and only 3G. I took both to a few different locations and same. When I had 1 bar on 4G she had a full signal and her downloads were twice as fast as mine so is there a way to update the radios on mine.
The difference in signal and speed almost made me want to unroot....well allmost.

Mikg2.5
golden monkey 1.1
PRI 2.15_003
PRL60680
Base band 2.15.00.05.02
Hardware ver 0004

those are the most current, up to date.... you could try a different rom... i never use (don't have in my area, of course... :() 4G but i do believe each rom handles 4G differently... IMHO....
If baseband is the radios then the new ends in 8080 or something like that I checked her phone and it was a higher baseband than mine. Ill call her and get the exact version. Or am i wrong that the baseband is the radio version

If there is a new radio, they should have it in a flashable zip before too long. I would also compare her PRL and PRI with your's. Those can be signal factors too.
Can I update the prl and pri the same as before root or no?
Since I rooted I havent done any updates for fear of messing something up. Also since the ota her voice search or voice to text works like a dream even with kids screaming in the background.

You can update PRL and PRI while rooted. Just avoid the other updates. The recent release fixed the voice to text issue. It shouldn't be long before the devs get it cooked into the current roms.

on mine i cant really tell, i already have outstanding battery life, so if there is a difference, its very minut on mine

Signal has improved however....

How is your battery life so far? Any noticable difference?

If you get better signal, you should see better battery life out of it as the phone will not have to work as hard to send/receive. I haven't seen a huge improvement with the cell signal but my 3g speeds have just about doubled.....went from 800dl/300ul to 1500dl/600ul.
